tank water balance problems

hi..im running a 75 gallon reef tank with a 20 gallon sump with a skimmer and return pump and overflow.....the pump and the overflow pair up fine....well ive been using a powerhead to power the suction in the overflow...well recently the suction has only been lasting a couple days then its just stops suckin water into the sump....im sure there is enough water in the tank....should i resort to a aqua lifter or could there be a differnent problem....any comments welcome...thanks

If the overflow is adjustable try lowering it on the inside part to reduce the number of bubbles. If that doesn't work then you might need a more powerful powerhead. How deep underwater is the powerhead?

its near the top of the water....i think the overflow is adjusted all the way down...but im not sure i may try an aqualifter...thanks tho
