okay so,, how do these people just put the fish right in there tanks they make.. they make it look to easy..
You can put fish right in a tank you just made up...back in the day folks cycled with a live fish...fresh or saltwater. Now we know better and use a chunk of raw already dead shrimp. You get the same result without torturing a live fish.

There's an established biofilter they don't show. This is how the local peeps do it, for the majority. They don't make the new owner wait forever for it to cycle... they bring the biofilter.

You can be 99.99999999999999% sure these owners are interested in eye-candy only and have professionals tend to their tanks.

Very true... the people who own these tanks only know "that is a pretty fish"... and that's it.

Can we get each other tank slaves for xmas? Too bad you can't pop by the LFS parking lot and get a "day laborer" to do WC's and cleaning...

I CAN say that those guys can build tanks...that Redneck Robert guy is freakin' awesome. He seems to be able to pull off anything that the other guys think up. I shudder to think how much that beer keg tank cost. THAT was an acrylic person's nightmare to form and glue, even doing it in strips. The seams didn't show at all.

I do really like Redneck robbie.... and the beer keg design with invisible seams was pretty awesome I have to admit...

Arrogance and pure arrogance is all I could think of during that interview.

Personally, I thought it was a decent interview. Of COURSE, they aren't showing how the tanks are REALLY setup in terms of the works and what is, or isn't cycled media, etc. If they set up "instant tanks", they'd have no business because the fish would all die when in the first big spike.
I like the fact that he mentioned that now that their foot is in the door, they plan on making season 2 a bit more educational.
I do think they ought to maybe have a little "you're not seeing the whole picture here, so don't run out and set up an instant tank" statement at the beginning...kinda like the "don't try this at home" at the beginning of Jackass or Fear Factor, or whatever.

Just watched the car tank one. It's awesome. They also encouraged QT, acclimation and said not to add too many fish too quickly. What else do y'all want?
They had an awesome feeding tube thingy... I have to look that up.

Ok - But a previous episode where I watched a 1000g tank being filled with 90deg water - then cooled down by using "ice machine" ice to get to 78 deg was kinda OFF
that perfect world of acclimation and adding things slowly....espically as the same episode showed 21+ boxes of fish
(stacked 3 high by 7 long) that just arrived via the airlines, and the rush was ON to get all of them dumped into the tank within minutes.....
I sure as heck didn't see proper or ANY qtine techniques employed in that episode, and Vegas has a long history of doing things with saltwater fishes that are questionable at best........ever see the James Bond flick "diamonds are forever" where ther's a bed headboard of a fish tank - containing clown triggers? And that's like 1973 - when we didn't even understand what a clown triggerfish ate, much less needed for space. Saltwater fish in those days cost thousands, and were lucky to survive a few months in captive care...
I see a show where too many people with more money than brains hire some yokuls that got run out of Jersey and migrated to Vegas where there's more money and less brains - but now have their own TV show on how to create a disaster - unless you're willing to spend $$ on weekly service by said twits....
I've seen 3 episodes, and thats more than enough for my taste......If I wanna see fishes die, I can goto ***** and watch their septic tanks eliminate pretty things - i'd rather watch snow on the tube versus these morons.

I'm amazed by their ideas and skills. But that's individual to each of us and not a point to be argued. We like what we like. The things we like, we will see the good and push aside the bad. The things we don't like , we will see the bad and push aside the good. Such is life
Dood, we can't talk about cruelty of fish without acknowledging the cruelty found in the food fishery. We don't blink an eye at that and happily hop to Red Lobster. Just because we give them names they deserve more respect? Fish are fish, you can't wear blinders to the cruelties we accept and complain about those aimed at the select few we have turned into pets.

Just remember it's all edited for time constraints so they can fit in two builds per hour of TV time with some humor stuffed in....

I don't think anyone is going to agree on this show. I can tell you that even Renee and I don't agree on how things should be done sometimes, and at times, it has gotten fairly heated, even tho we trust and respect each other's knowledge pretty darned highly.
There's no doubt that everyone here is passionate about the hobby, and that's a great thing, but as we all know, there are 1000 ways to accomplish most things, and it all comes down to what works for each person. Case in point, Renee and I prefer not to drip acclimate a fish that has been shipped due to the pH/NH3 toxicity issue, but we don't flame everyone who does so, as it works for them, and most shippers say to drip them, nor do we EVER name our fish.
Those guys are HUGE in the biz, and yes, they have super high-end clients with lots of money to burn ($30,000 for a QT setup? sheesh), but everyone has their own level of enjoyment in the hobby, and that's fine too. It's their ingenuity and skill in designing systems and making them function that impresses me.
JMHO...
