Tattoos on your doctor or lawyer?

I think we are straying from reality. I dont think to many doctors have death related tatoos. Like skulls and deamons, nor would someone who makes a career out of working with or teaching children. Laywers on the other hand are of all walks of life, some defending obvious murderers and rapists and some are in there litigating property rights, so i can see some having a questionable 'evil' related tat.
What if your childs doctor had a nice cubs, yankees , or colts tatoo that was visible?

So I am the ONLY one that said it would bother me????
I have plenty of tattoos, but I dont have them on my neck. Tattoos on the neck take a particular type of person. It is a special kind of commitment to do that to yourself no matter what the content. Prison quality sculls or gang symbols from many years ago make no change to my mental red flag that flies when I see them on someones neck..
So to all those with neck tattoos of prison quality piles-o-skulls that are fully competent doctors and other proffessionals,....please accept my humble appology for mentally considering you a convict.
As for a tattoo (even if seemingly inapropriate)that is seen on the sleeve of my doctor during a visit, I wouldnt bat an eye. Probably wouldnt even think about it.
The question is asked about my garbage man, If he has tattoos that look like prison work than YES I get that same red flag mentally. If on his arms then taste is out the window. Its not MY arm so what do I care right?

Yea, he was on Ripley's Believe It or Not, a while back. Agreed not a moron or evil person, but his loss of reality is a bit much for me.

I have tatoos, I would be more likely to pick a doctor or lawyer with tatoos because they might relate better.
What about your president?

i agree when i saw him on there i just lost all concept of what he was saying and just thought wow, i mean i have a fairly large tat on my back but wow i just couldnt do that and i wouldnt be able to concentrate properly looking at him no matter how educated. he could be valedictorian from all the ivy league schools i still wouldnt be able to have him as a dr, lawyer, teacher, or garbage man. its just a little too far. he can live his life but when it involves me ill opt out.

and all yall yankees talk funny. They don't say "r", I pulled in and stopped at the god shack and the god gave me parking ticket.
I don't know about floridians, jew knoo, the phone goes green green green and I pink it up and say yellow.
Haha... I actually was born in Ohio, but grew up in NC and now live in FL.
Having a southern accent is one thing, but completely changing the word is not acceptable to me. The correct pronunciation is usually exactly how it is spelled.
Pen, is just that. It's not a pee-an.
And your right, the same applies to the extreme opposite, IMO. Car is car. Not caw.
To speak wrong is a lazy trait to me. And a lazy trait is usually acceptable to most, by most. But not a doctor or lawyer.

born and raised in the south i dont have a southern drawl but i have family that do, to be perfectly honest there are some yankees that i have no clue what they say...waytofastrunittogether kinda thing versus k i n d a s l o w, a lot more relaxed if you ask me!

Relaxed is OK. Clearly and slowly also fine. But as I said, to speak a word that's not even in the dictionary because your (not YOUR, just people) mouth cannot form a solid consonant is again...lazy
Heck even I say words wrong. Including y'all. But I'm not a doc or lawyer.
OMG, let him have a skull tatoo on his neck AND can't talk...

No, that's not even possible, lol

The tattoos wouldnt bother me.
I had a dentist that was a former roadie. He had long hair and played classic rock throughout the office. He once looked at me and said, "You have some great teeth. Now stop F'ing them up!!!!"
He was great. I would still got there if I hadn't moved.

you know, my grandpa is mexican, and one of the things he stressed on his kids was "learn to speak english without an accent." And he after I graduated from college told me you speak english and speak it well, and you have a degree there is nothing you can't do. (of course this was in spanish)

The southern drawl is simply a more deliberate. Some of the smartest people I've ever met, had a thick southern accent.
Speaking of which I just got off the phone with someone from NYC, man that is an accent it was hilarious. Like watching newsies.

I could care less if someone is inked or not. If they are good at their job or are a good person why should it matter if they have art on their body? If you're dying of blood are you really going to care what the doctor looks like? Now, if a person has a tattoo that is inappropriate or hateful such as a Swastika or a penis I would rather them cover that somehow while at work. Some people have this notion that having tattoos somehow makes you trashy. You're only trashy if you act like trash. Why is a boob job more accepted than ink or piercings? A body mod is a body mod. I myself have a crap load of tattoos planned. Having a tattoo isn't going to change who I am or alter my skills.

.... if they have tats on their face/neck/hands, that start's to raise eyebrows.
That would be my only concern. Otherwise, who cares. However, I think that acceptance of tats has a lot to do with where you live, and your profession. If I was a geriatric doctor or pediatrician, I might make the decision not to get tats where they are obviously seen.
Also, it depends on what the tat is. A racy tat would be a turn off for me. I'd rather not see my GYN with a tat of a woman with big boobs spilling out over a tight bodice. LOL

I personally hate those black "prison type" tattoos, they make a person look like a punk, and uneducated. If you are stupid enough to do that to your body...I wouldn't hire a that person to do anything for me...not even mow the lawn.
As for the tattoo done in a shop...done right, some of it is beautiful artwork. (My daughter has a tiger with a human face... UGLY!) It''s just too permanent for my liking, so I wouldn't do it. She is in her mid 30s now, and regrets all of her tattoos except a heart one on her shoulder. She has 7 or 8, and the worst one is some huge fairy from ankle to knee with bat wings.
Like it or not, I would be afraid the Judge would look at all tattoos the way I look at the black crap people scar themselves with. So I don't think it's a tattoo is a good thing for a lawyer to have if he/she can't cover it up for court.
Doctors...it wouldn't bother me in the least if he/she had them done in a shop. I have never seen a doctor with any tattoo...

I have tattoos on most of my upper body. Including a giant mandosaur skull on my neck. Lets see who knows what that is. I run two successful business. Interact with customers, politicians, lawyers, judges, and doctors regularly. Hell, I was just at the mayors ball last weekend by invitation only. My customer base mostly comes from the top 5%. Most of my tats are black no color and could be considered prison tats.....lol.
I am of the perception that physical appearance should not dictate the person. Some of the most intelligent people I know have significant tat work on their body.

I personally wouldn't hire anyone for a professional position if they had a lot of visible tattoos. I could really care less but there are still plenty of people who do.

Darth,
I'm so sorry to hear you did that to yourself. I'm glad you managed to to do well in spite of your ugly black "prison tats". When you are talking about doctors and lawyers, physical appearances count a great deal...It's the first impression a person gets, and if you look like a punk, you don't get the chance to see where or how far you could have gone with those like myself who are afraid of scary "jailbird looking" people.
In a perfect world I imagine folks would not be judged by looks. We do not live in a perfect world, so first impressions count in the business world. You have to admit that what you decide to ink on your body comes from the the deep inside of your soul...it's permanent, and is your self expression. What makes you think an ugly black alien skull on your neck is the sign of a nice trust worthy guy?
My guess is you meet many of your clients over the phone or e-mail, and first looks wouldn't matter then. Once somebody gets to know another person, 99 times out of 100, in spite of first impressions, they are alright people. After folks talk to you on-line or the phone, when you meet them face to face the only comment, if they bothered to comment, would be that you don't look like what they expected.
I consider you a very bright person (from witty comments you always offer up) none the less, I think those black ugly tattoos was stupid to mar your body with, and LOL... Possibly not the only dumb thing you ever did, as is the story of life for all of us.
From a Christian and Jewish religious perspective (I don't know about other religions on the subject), Most very religious people believe it's against the Bible teachings. (quick note: I happen to personally think folks who go that route are mistaken, since the scriptures only say to not mark your body for the dead
. Making yourself ugly, or different with tattoos was not the Prohibition IMO, that God meant).
So while you may be a very smart nice business person...big black tattoos are still ugly.
