Just curious to know if congress passes the tax rebate (currently around 600 dollars for singles and 1200 for married couples) will anyone be spending that money on their aquariums? If so what do you plan on buying?

HAHA - now thats good. I was considering placing it in a low yield, barely beating inflation CD or Bond, just to show them... :)

No doubt. Im not even sure if I will get a rebate. I pay plenty in taxes but its on my disability, interest and dividends. Not sure that will qualify.

You guys don't have the equivalent to "save our home" where they can only raise your taxes so much a year? Only 3% here if you are homestead.

Man... my property taxes have remained virtually unchanged in the last 4 years. A few dollars here and there, but nothing much.
As for me, I'm going to do exactly what the government does not want me to do with it... put it in the bank.
Just an FYI... I think we get income taxed on that money, so like $200 of that 600 goes right back to them.

I guess I will be using it for my aquariums in one way or an other. Its prob going to pay a credit card..LOL im sure I have some aquarium stuff on there that will get paid off with it.
And if you have children you get 300 ea for them too. So I guess I should be getting about $1500. Unless I claim myself as a child.... then it will be $1800. Hey Im told enough how childish I am, might as well capialize on it...

We had a tax appraiser do this 3 years in a row.
My folks bought this house for $150,000 in december, that next november when it came for the county to send our property tax bill, they appraised our house at $450,000. So we had to pay to get a realestate appraisal guy to come out and appraise our house. What was funny is that when we went up there, they really didn't want to come down, till my dad offered to sell them the house at a "steal 100,000 dollars off at a measley $350,000.

some of mine may be going towards my aquarium, however the majority of it is getting invested. Most likely in energy to offset the ever rising cost of it.

What are the limits to receiving the money? Is it only a certain tax bracket and below? I probably won't even get it like I can't get the child credit, daycare writeoffs and even have my deduction amount reduced because we make more than the allowed amount.

I haven't seen the final number. Rumor was the ceiling is $250K adjusted 2007 gross.
