temp high at night?

Hello! I am pretty stumped by my temperature fluctuations. Wondering if someone could shed some light on why this is happening.
Basically, when I wake up my tank is 81.8F through the day it will drop down to 78-79F with the halides on. Once all the lights go off, it will raise up again to around 80.5-82F during the late evening early morning.
I have a 55 gallon w/titanium T4 Poseidon pump and a Quiet one 6,000 running my skimmer. I know both of these add quite a bit of heat to the water but I am just so confused to why the temperature goes up at night. I have a window air conditioner that keeps the room at 72-74 so the temperature is constant in the room. Any ideas on how to get this temp down/why the temperature is rising at night would be great. Thanks. I live in Columbus, OH temperature has been in the 70's lately, 50-60's at night.

Do you have some type of fan in the light fixture, which would be blowing during the day when the lights are on, but goes off when the lights go off?

what kind of thermometer are you useing?
I am using an aqua medic temp controller.

There is a 120mm fan in the light fixture that is on only when the halides are on. I don't think this would be enough to make a big difference. I have posted a picture below so you can see what it looks like. The fixture is open, nothing covering it.

i have no idea what it could be but i just had to compliment your rockwork
Haha, thanks a lot. That honestly means a lot, it took a lot of work to get it looking decent. I have actually rearranged it a few times since this pictures was tanken though.

IMO your air conditioner is running more during the day which lowers humidity and increases evaporation. The extra evaporation is cooling the water.
If it were me I would set my controller to maintain the temp at 82F to minimize the temperature fluctuations.

Bang Guy: Thanks a lot for your opinion. I bet that is exactly what is happening. I installed a fan over my sump a few days ago and that has kept the temperature at 78 pretty consistently. It even gets cool enough that the heaters have to come on!
Thanks for everyones responses.
