That whole Global Warming Thing is such a joke...

You are all relying on the Guradian article, which is not the primary source of the information. In fact, the title of the Guardian article, "The Himalayas and nearby peaks have lost no ice in past 10 years, study shows" is not what the original article in Nature says, which is that the loss of Glacier and Ice Cap in the Himalayas is abut 30 percent less than had been estimated. Thirty percent less than has been estimated is not the same thing as "no loss", and reflects better analysis of the GRACE satellite data, which gives a better view of high altitude glacier mass than previous measures. This becomes important when you consider that several billion people are dependent on the outflow of water from this source, so understanding the dynamics of the system is very important to them. On the other hand, the study shows that the accelerated melt off of other glaciers seems to be contributing to the rise in sea level that has been measured. So,,,the earth continues to go around the sun, and the sea levels do continue to rise.

At this point, if the scientists said the sun will rise in the East tomorrow, I'd get my cup of coffee and sit toward the West for the sunrise. They have lost all credibility and the percentage of Americans who believe in global warming has dropped drastically over the last 2 years. Lie to us once and it's forgivable(best intentions and all that). Lie to us over and over and you get tuned out. At this point only hard core Democrats and Greens believe any of that global warming crap anymore. Sometimes the American people remind me why I still believe in this old Republic.

according to this joker it is? "The very unexpected result was the negligible mass loss from high mountain Asia, which is not significantly different from zero."Bristol University glaciologist Prof Jonathan Bamber.
Look keep in mind, I'm not saying the article is or isn't valid. I'm just pointing out the logic process of the turkeys that run around telling us the world is ending... (as I look at the Nautilus fossil I found in my back yard, 500 miles from the coast...)

I am certainly no democrat let alone hard core. I base my perception of reality on a wider base of input is all. You think all scientists are plotting against you, I think it's a tiny minority.

When a tiny minority screams hyperbole loud enough and long enough, it eventually becomes....
-especially when money can be made....

Yes, the tiny minority of climate scientists shouting out against global warming are probably looking for money or attention. We can agree on that as well.

I've seen too many examples of "never let a crisis, perceived or real, go to waste" to discount the money motive. Our weather has been changing since the beginning of time. I have no doubt there are people willing to use that to feather their own nest.

Probably some of that and probably some(not even close to a tiny minority-including the only climate scientist who has won a Nobel Prize for his research on climate change-they give those for attention seeking right?) don't want to see junk science used to destroy our economy.

What scientist would that be? I have looked over the Nobel list for the past few years, and the only award that mentions climate change was the Peace Prize, given not to a scientist, but to a political organization. I agree with you that we don't want to see junk science used to destroy our economy, but neither do I want to see made-up arguments justifying junk politics.

The Nobel organization has so discredited itself over the last decade or so not being on their list would enhance someone in my opinion LOL!

I'm still laughing at the thought that the U.N. ran around saying that all the glaciers in those mountains would be gone in 25 years.

Something I forgot to respond to earlier in the thread was the question as to the "why" would so many scientists lie about this. For the same reason 80% of professors are liberal. The men and women going into "climate science" are largely liberals who have a preconceived notion that humans are destroying the world-watch ANY earth science documentary and you'll hear it mentioned several times. For them, proving how man is screwing up the earth is their liberal mission and if it takes a little doctored data and bald-faced, table-pounding, screaming, in-your-face lies, so be it. It's for the better good, so we'll pat ourselves on the back at the government sponsored dinners and quote each other and give each other a knowing wink across the room when we've read the latest blatant lies the other "scientists" have published, because (dammit!) we are saving the world and sometimes you gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelet. And now, if you want to keep living large and not work for the EVIL corporations who are destroying the planet, you gotta make the wildest claims to keep the government milk flowing.
