The forums...

Have been so boring in my opinion. Especially The Aquarium... besides political debates and fights and the occasional troll or two, nothing that good is happening. no interesting builds, no nothing. Can anyone share an interesting one with me that I'm missing?
Oh yeah, did I mention how SLOW they are?

There actually are a few interesting little projects going here and there. Not many are updated frequently.
There are many things going on in peoples lives right now that not many people have the time to get on the internet forums. Back to school, prepping for work, Summer stuff,... kids, etc. etc. So, it's always slow, especially this time of year. We get most of our traffic right after Christmas.
There are so many new hobbyists coming to this forum. Maybe if people were nicer to them right off the bat, they would stay and share their tank.

Not as good as it used to be though imo. I thought it was most active/most interesting in late 2011. There were so many threads back then that I look back at and felt so connected to y'all. I hate saying it, but it almost seems to be that I feel more like I'm logging in and I just look at all the posts, threads, and etc from an outsider perspective. It's not that community feel I get... the reason I've loved this forum.

I disagree, it is slow but the community feel is still here. We argue, we laugh, we cry and we just keep going. Darth keeps us laughing but Meowzer holds us together. BTLDreef and Beth make us feel like someone is always right there in our corner ready to help when the fish get sick or the API test kit reads crazy levels.
Then there are still the heros when stuff hits the fan, like 2Quills and Acrylic52. Snake is always working on that long book on how to do everything...LOL Lets not forget Nova always has some fantastic project going.
I like to think I'm a little entertaining with my constant drama. I love Sweatervest, you and the new folks who do stick around (names I can't spell off the top of my head). I'm sure I missed a whole slew of others like Bang Guy and Florida Joe if you want a professors opinion. I haven't seen any posts from Henry lately, I hope he is okay.....Bionicarm ... well we still love him even though he thinks a gun ban will fix the world.

I do believe our little community is in tact.
Oh and Reefraf (spelling) just started a new thread on water changes...and folks who don't do them regularly

Boring? Really?
Lets see, Flower almost died leaving her furry and feathery family members orphaned (and now she has cockatoo issues), Meowzer’s grandkids were (almost) kidnapped, and a nutjob who thought he was the Joker shot up folks in a movie theater and the left and right wingers in this forum came to blows (as usual) over it, Snake finally decided (maybe) what he wants to do with his career, deejeff’s poor little donkey saga came to a sad conclusion and Jerth's wife is back in the hospital. All this within the past week.
What kind of excitement do you really need??

Yeah, lots of stuff going on. Just not many builds as other forums. But, we do still have a community. One of the regulars on here is going through with some personal issues, as am I. I think our little community is still here. I think though, as thr community that we are, we need to focus more on not only retaining our current members but also welcoming more members to become part of the community.

I agree that there is a lot going on, but also that the builds are slower because of the summer.
I know that I have a canopy build that I am putting off for the summer. I just can't get into super project mode when the weather is so nice. I would like to get some things moving on it though... Maybe I just need a rainy weekend.

Maybe we need a little more threads from the active members... Maybe something along the lines of current tank pics or favorite fish pics. Who knows, just trying to get some ideas out there. I know that I would love to see some current tank pics of everyone's setups.
I hope everything is going to be okay for Acrylic. I never like hearing people going thru hard times. But, what does not kill us makes us stronger.
Either way I like being a small part of the community here. I even don't mind the Aquarium... Well except for all the politics... It seems there, if you are not extreme (either side) you get blasted. But it is the season.

You know who I miss a bit? 1Guydude. He was always super funny.

If you are truly that bored.....you could always go hangout by a movie theatre fire exit. guaranteed to create some excitement now.

I've just got way too much going on right now and I keep adding to the pile. There just aren't enough hours in the day. I am bogged down with work, school and personal stuff. I keep getting stuff adding to my pile. :(

Yep, yep, yep! Bottom line is that the summer is the busiest time of the year personally and professionally for a lot of folks. I'm just trying to make it through while surviving the south texas heat. Things will slow down and the action around here will pick back up again before long I'm sure. Actually, this is my third summer here and so far it seems like there is more action going on this year than the previous two so that's nice to see.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my buddy, Shawn and hoping that everything works out for him.
Glad that Flower is doing better :)
Reef posted a thread about water changes? Wow I am out of touch.

That's crazy about the grand kids, Lois. I would have stroked.

Yup...it tends to slow down a little during the summer. Once Flower's back to 100% I'm sure she'll be amazing us with her new tank ideas...she's had plenty of time to think about them, after all! ;-) My 110 rebuild is on the "Share Your Aquarium" folder, and Snake's plans are coalescing for his 110...which I'm sure is going to put mine to shame, so I'm just fine with his build speed.

Yeah, I'm happy with the way things are progressing. Since the decision for me to go back to school, it's kind of made my plans even more drawn out. I have to get a more steady income that will work with my school hours. Going to be tough, but it's all going to work out. Things are extremely tight for me right now - and the only thing I can do is dream.

Thanks y'all. I just needed some leads on good threads.
Interesting how the forums are slowest in the summer... its the same with our business, ALWAYS slower in the mid summer... and most active from October to early June. Of course there's always exceptions.
