It is....One of the gals at my LFS has seahorses. We talked quit a bit. She has a hiation anemone in her tank, and a rock anemone. I love anemones, but was very aware of the problems. She also cautioned me to wait another month or so, to let the pod colonies grow some more.
{EDIT LINK} had a list of the few fish that could be kept with Seahorse, which include the catalina Goby, the firefish goby, the Red striped Goby, and the Court Jester Goby. The Gorgonian that were suggested for hitching post are the Purple Ribbon, Purple yree, Corky finger, and the Ribbon willow.

I got the Corky Finger yesterday. Man did it open up once it got into my tank!!!

Why in the world would you put a rock anemone into a seahorse tank? I have a rock in my reef and it's a very sticky species...think your horses will make for expensive dinner. Then again, to each their own and a little research on your end would probably be beneficial.

I was inquiring about that with one of the gals who works at the LFS that I go to. She has sea horses, with the rock anemone and the Hiation anemone in her tank....She hasn't had any problems, I am well aware of the possibilites.... . After discussing the current cycling state of my tank~it just starting growing pods...she also recommended that I wait at least another month or so before adding the horses... although I am still hesitant....I will certainly thinnk more upon the subject. :happyfish
I realize that my tank methods are way of the beaten track. I have never been convinced until I try something, not that I dought your experiences or do not head your warnings. I will have to read more about the seahorses and their prefered evironments, I appreicate your info and look forward to becaoming more knowlegable about seahorses.

Spend some time on WWM and spend less time listening to your lfs...after all, they are their to sell and she did a good job selling you two anemones.

Okay!!!!! I now am quite confident that seahorses do not fear anemones. After researching online I found hard evidence. These pictures were taken in the wild. It is a seahorse wrapped around a coral with a Curly Q ANEMONE!!!!!!
DO NOT believe everything that you read!!!!
Ofcourse, I am always open to more info regarding the subject!!

This is the third place you've posted this tonight!
Just because a tiny curlyque and a seahorse are photographed
together is no reason to jump to the conclusion that "anemones and seahorse go fine in the same tank." That's absurd. Get a grown carpet anemone and a seahorse in an enclosed environment and I'd put money that the seahorse would be missing within 48 hours.
I missed where anyone said seahorse "fear" anemonies!

Sigh....
A curly Q anemone and a rock anemone are not the same animal...my rock is the size of a small plate and would make a quick meal of seahorse...they are not powerful enough swimmers to escape. I think you are gonna have to learn the hard way, hope you have plenty of extra $$ for new animals because I have a feeling you are not going to be very successful.

Okay, Okay...I admit the deck is stacked against me....and sorry about the double posts.
In all the years of tanking I have found very little information that I have read that i have not proven wrong....reguarding my past experiences. I have also been proven wrong many times. Currently I am most interested in information regarding the husbandtry of seahorese and their environments. I mean no disrespect to your own experiences, I simply would like more information.
Thankyou,
Rykna

{EDIT LINK} list several thing that can not and should not be kept with seahorses, and any thing that stings is on that list. thier skin is sensative and any sores they receive can turn into a deadly infection.

As an aside, any LFS that says a tank is ready for anemones before it is ready for fish is sketchy, IMO. Anemones should go into pretty established systems. Not to mention, those anemones seem rather pale to me :notsure:

I have a Haitian anenome I put in my tank about a few weeks after the cycle. Other then low Ph (and the Ph is stable) the water is stable and I have been lucky that the anenome has flourished an is very big now. Like what Ophiura stated about the tank not being ready for the anenome I didn't know that at the time so I really was lucky. As big as it is my fish stay away from it because its tentacles are very sticky, I know since my turkey baster got caught and it took a while for the anenome to let go but it did finally after about 10 minutes. The more tentacles that get ahold of something the stronger the anenome will be IMO.
Yours looks a lot whiter (paler?) than mine but if the water is stable will probably grow to be fairly large.
