I hate to bring facts to a political debate, but as to rule #2 I have a little to add.
To the Japanese poeple during the WWII era ( and especially the warrior class) the Emperor was a god on earth. They were doing the god's bidding by fighting and dying for him. They would earn a special place in the afterlife by killing the enemies of the Emperor. They earned disgrace for surrender.
Pretty close to a form of religion if you ask me.
Now, in my humble mind; just because thay have the right to do something. Is it the right thing to do?
Was kamikaze a religion or philosophy?
