found some old pictures of how I started of about 3 years ago now.
Tank was set up for me by a LFS little did I know back then as they ripped me off big time and set up a tank that was bound for disaster.
Anyway have learned allot since then and spend allot of sweat and dineros to get it where I am now and still going.
enjoy the old pictures lol

I'm doing somewhat the same scrubber design built inside a ten gallon aquarium, baffled on the inside with glass and drilled in the middle it keeps salt spray from getting into the light sockets. I really like your design. Can't wait to see pics of the build.

Nice just found out that they reconfigured the sizes of those scrubbers and now calculate the size of scree needed as per the amount of feedings done. Guess I will have to re-design mine and make much smaller now according to the new scales. the smaller the better I say. More to follow.

disaster has struck my chiller gave out.

This morning still all OK. Came home with a new Chocolate Tang to add to the tank and felt the water to be warm? Straight checked the chiller and temp was at 30C?????
My god called my repair man straight who was doing another job first but came within 2 hours of it all. Found a blockage and my chiller was completely frozen up even though he stands straight into the sun almost outside.
Anyway he is fixing it as we speak now but just a temporary fix so it would run through the night and tomorrow he would bring a new upgraded whatever it was he said...... anyway it would be going from 9000BTU to 12000BTU now which would a bit better. For sur ealso looking towards to future upgrade which is coming up now in 4 months and counting.
Good it happened when I was still here and not next week if I am gone for work and the wife home alone.
Updates will come.
Installed a new saltwater storage tank/ATO system.

News just got better he cant get the thing to work temporary so I am without chiller right now. Placed 2 large fans on my DT to try and get the temp as low as possible but it seem I cant get it lower then 84F?
Switch off the lights (even though they are LED and dont give any heat I thought it would be better to lsow down the system shutting down the light?
Did I do right there or would not make a difference?
Please advise.

The repair man did work through the night to get my new updated chiller fixed. he upgraded it from a 9000Btu to a 12000BTU which would work much better.
So the chiller was just offline for half a day and one night and my water never went over 84.2F so nothing really damaged.

ok some pictures of the newest addition.
A 100Gallon storage tank. This is one of a 2 part as one more will be coming as time moves along. Idea would be to use one to store my fresh ocean water overnight checking it with all test kits available and the other one will be used to pump out the old water out of the system to be discarded later all with the opening of certain valves full automatic.
Anyway here some pictures

OK sorry for the long wait again
warned you guys it would be a slow built.
I just got called back to the ship so I currently am floating on top of the biggest salt water reef aquarium in the world the great barrier reef.
Anyway as I am on the ship I do have allot of time now to get back to the designing table and finish of the last details before I get back home in Mat and can finally start the building stage.
Anyway I need you guys help as I am designing my new closed loop idea?
I have a few questions though
one of them is would this be too many holes in the bottom of the tank or would due to the size of the tank it be OK?

will post more drawings so the direction of the flow becomes clear later.
lets first stick with the too many holes or just fine?
The large holes from the drains will be 1 1/2" holes and the smaller holes are 3/4" to run into loc lines

am talking about if 10 holes in the bottom pane would be too much.
Especially a bit worried about the 2 holes close to each other as the drain holes are only a few inches of one of the return holes?
Not sure if this would decrease stability of the glass?

anyway one more question would a waterblaster HY 5 or 7000 provide enough flow?
remember it will be 2 closed loops so was wondering if two HY7000 would provide more then sufficiant flow?
or what you guys think?

after 4 months sailing on top of the Great Barrier Reef I am finally back home and got going right away.
Things have been quiet but will be speeding up in the next 2 months.
Ordered the tank today
Measurements 118 x 31.5 x 26 which would give a volume of 418 Gallon.
using the waiting of the tank coming home I will be re-setting my complete filtration using my current tank and change my complete set up.
The complete system would be around 1050 Gallon
keep tuned as pictures will start coming tomorrow.

first stage
get the foundation of the concrete stand and get a hole in a wall facing out in the kitchen.
Tank will be positioned in the living room but one short side viewable in the kitchen.

and the guy who all started this hobby for me after watching NEMO a few years back
