The WATCHDOG works!!!!

WHOOOOO....Almost had a BIG tragedy
 
I cleaned the skimmer cup to my Hurricone....well I have never been able to get the settings exact the first try, so I usually leave the cabinet doors open, and test the water level every few minutes making adjustments
WELLLLLLLLLLLL...I was side-tracked.....and I hear this LOUD HIGH PITCHED SOUND.....The skimmer was overflowing thru the cup all over

and my Watchdog Water Alarm was SCREAMING HAHA
 
In the minute this took to happen I probably lost a good gallon of water......PHEWWW....Could have been so much worse
 
 
SO..if you do not have one.....Home Depot sells the Watchdog Water Alarm for about $10
 
GOTTA say....the best $10 I have spent lately

Are you telling me that even with a sump I will have to worry with a stupid skimmer leaking? So that's my lot in life...I must get an alarm...your right, a well spent $10.00, I didn't know they had such a thing...

LOL...Flower...nothing is leak proof.....you still have to adjust all the levels right......I got careless today, but also got saved by a WONDERFUL $10 product

my skimmer overflowed last night too, but it has been running for about a week straight. it seems to do that periodically and i don't understand why. anyone have any ideas or experience the same thing? I ended up with about 1 1/2 gallons on the floor, then leaked down into the basement @ 3:30am. I may have to get a watchdog alarm. How does it mount?

I just set it on the bottom of teh stand.......it has 2 sensors on it
Maybe you need to empty the cup a little more often

I have one of these alarms next to each of my tanks, actually 2 alarms next to my big tank, one inside the cabinet next to the sump and one on the floor next to it. Saved me once when my skimmer overflowed.

I cant agree more this things a great. I have one in my sump one om my tank and one with my skimmer. wont stop it from overflowing but nice to know it will let you know when it does happen. Oh yeah piece of advice dont take the battery out lol.
