This is so embarassing....FLEAS!!!!!

My Saturday is going to be horrible.
We have only been using frontline on our dog every 2 months since she hasn't had any problems with fleas.
Well, the skanks that moved in next door have dogs that we now know have fleas and they don't do anything to treat the fleas.
Now my backyard is infested with fleas and my poor dog is scratching like crazy. I also found a couple of fleas in the house! :scared:
I applied frontline to my dog yesterday and bought some yard spray and house spray (thank god I have wood floors and not carpet) to rid myself of the plague that the skanks next door brought upon me and my poor dog.
I went over to their house and complained and they said that their dogs were fine and weren't bothered by the fleas. I wanted to punch the m*****f*****s right in the nose, but I restrained myself.
So, because of them, I had to spend $60 on yard and house treatments and waste a good part of my Saturday. Not to mention the embarassment I felt when I went in and purchased all these products.

I will now have to treat my yard every 3 months to keep their fleas out of my yard.

At least Sunday I can sit down, relax, grill my 16 ounce ribeye (rare/medium rare; I have always loved a bloody steak), and watch some football.
By the way, does anyone know if there is a place I can call to report these people and if it would do any good? :notsure:
Sorry for the long post .

I feel for you man. I probably would have punched them. other wise my wife would have punched me for not punching them.

I would try calling animal control about the infestation, and tell them the whole story.
If you can't get rid of the flea's you would always have a good supply of fish food..... ***)

Jason thats sucks. I own a pest control company and believe me nothing wrong with buying the products. Don't feel embarrassed. Get a good yard granule like the kind H.D. or lowes sells that has the tick, flea etc. on the bag. Apply it heavily next to the fence and inward a good 5-6 feet and then as recommended on the package for the rest of the yard. Water it in to activate, Viola, problem solved. Pay attention the base baseboards, any rugs or pet bedding in the house. Turn off everything on the tank, COVER the tank with several sheets etc. and spray the house around the baseboards. NO FOGGERS. Or even better yet, do not spray the room the fish tank is in. Hope that helps. Barry

There is still 2 months worth of decent weather and thats more than long enough to get the fleas established inside the home. Take care of the avenue of approach first. THE YARD via the skanks next door.

Thanks.
I got some stuff for the inside of the house. From what I understand, I need to spray the house and the yard and then again in two weeks. I will check out the other stuff you were talking about at Lowes.

So do I not have to worry about the nasty folks flea infested animals next door sending fleas into my yard during the winter?

Ah!
I keep forgetting you're in Texas.
It's already chilly here in 'Bama.
Fleas, like most bugs, are not active in the winter!

Indoors, you have to worry about them all year. Outside not so much.

Not to rag on Alabama, but what is the deal with the speed limits there?
I drive through Alabama every year when I go to Georgia to visit my family.
I take I-20 to Alabama, then 80 to Montgomery, and then 82 to Eufala where we cross into Georgia.
In Texas, little back roads and farm roads all have 70 mph speed limits.
The same roads in Alabama are usually 45 - 55 mph.
If your lucky, you get to a stretch of road where the speed limit is 60 - 65 mph, not that I follow it anyway.
I just find that kind of strange.

you crack me up. My suggestion would be the use of unconventional trickery... yes another use for the old
"Clark Griswald" we talked about before.
The next time you drive by some fresh road kill, put on some gloves and scoop it up. Put a leash and collar around it then tie the other end to the bumper of this jerks pick up truck. Call the humane society and mention that he also dosent take care of the pets he currently has living, when the come to inspect his pets living conditions they will inevitebly discover the flea infestation problem.
heh, heh, heh.
Used to know a guy who named his dog fleabag :hilarious

I'm glad I am not the only one. I was so embarassed when I went up to the cash register with all my flea stuff. I just knew everyone was looking at me like I was a trashy person who didn't take care of his animals.

I am going to do something to these skanks to get them back, I just don't know what yet.
I am open to suggestions.
It can't be too obvious because I have already gone over there and b****ed them out.

Wish I could help more, hmm maybe a fiesty Racoon or Bobcat in the jerks mailbox would give a nice surprise
Nah... that might be cruel. Maybe another dirty tsunami?

That sucks, don't be embaressed thouhg. Dopwnb here in Louisiana its common for dogs to get all kinds of things like fleas & ticks. Because of the heat. When my pups got fleas I used Frontline & applied to the yard some type of granuales. Don't remeber the exact name. It was something like you poasted in the pic above.
My mutts are full time outsiders & all what it took was a nice bath in flea shampoo, then frontline just one time which lasts like a month, then I spreaded them granuales in the yard once. Never seen any since the dogs are frre & the yard.

Actually, I would look at you the opposite way! If you didn't take care of your animals, you wouldn't bother spending the money to buy the products that would take care of the problem and would just ignore it and do nothing like your neighbors do. So don't be embarassed, you proved that you do care about your animals and take good care of them!
According to my vet, it is an especially bad year for fleas for some reason. I'm in Michigan and our dogs have never had them before, but picked up a few this year. I was horrified as well, but all you can do is to do your best to eliminate the problem.
Good luck and sorry about your trashy neighbors!
