Im looking into timers for my lighting systems! I already have a shipment on the way from my supplier and this will prob be included in my next one. Does anyone have any recommendations? Are the not digital ones easy to use (military time?)? I dont want the big power par ones, just the dual or single lil ones....i also saw some at the local hardware store, would this be acceptable? Any info plz....all i have read is mainly the reviews and some info out of my suppliers magazine...thxs -Devin
opps sry u can move this to the equipment section if u want mods!

k well it seems they are at my supplier and the price for the L1 model looks decent........does the probe for temp actually hook up to the heater? I know the controller must hook up to the 4plug in piece, there i would plug in my moonlight, 2 ballasts, and temp? All this would be controlled one that lil (if it is lil) hand held unit! This is a must in the near future! Thxs guys and girl! It almost seems underpriced for the quality! I mean ive seen controllers that are serious $$$

you would plug the heater in and you could control when the electricity is applied to the outlet the heater is in. Say on at 77 andoff at 79 with theheater set to 80. the heater will always beon, but notalways haveelectricity. have more toplug in, there is the extra 4 outlet barthat plugs into themaiun unit. and yes, therkl-1 controls it all. go tothemanufactures website and read upontheir forums. lots ofhappy users there. Not sureifthetrade updeal isstill working. used tobethatyougot aRKL-1 andwithin ayear youcould trade uptoaRKL-3 or the RKE line andget $ off theupgrade.
ps...thank my kids for thenon working spacebar.

the 4 outlets are controled by the "head unit" and each individual outlet can be turned on or off based on many triggers. Best example I can give is:
Ideal tank temp for a system is 78 degrees.
Temp probe in DT with a second temp probe in sump.
Heater hooked into outlet #1 and set for 80 temp.
MH lights hooked into outlet #2
other stuff in outlets 3 and 4
program the "head unit" to turn off power to the heater once the tank reaches 79 degrees. Also program the unit to turn off the MH lights if the tank temp reaches 80. Program the unit to turn on the lights and heater once the tank temp reaches 77.
Wont ever have to worry about silly tank temps again. just gotta worry about silly heaters exploding or breaking. Who cares if the heater is stuck on, it cant work without power.

well i got 4 timers at wallys. One for my spider light, one for my 10gal, and two for my two ballast system on the 36. Unfortunately i was fishing in eastern Wa and couldnt use em till the next day. I came home and my ballast are 3 prong plug ins
.....stupid timers were only for the basic 2 prongs. Well back to walmart in search of the 3 prong style. The controller will have to wait as my life requires funds put elsewhere! Im not gonna lie these things are a pita to set up. Meowzer idk if im reading em wrong or not! After playing around with them i THINK i have the two i can actually use set up....

Please do not ever use that phrase in my presence again.
Fishing is never unfortunate.

-I haven't been fishing in so long I've forgotten which end of the rod to hold...fat end, correct?

I've purchased a couple of Coralife Aqualight Digital Power Centers, and I can tell you they are a piece of crap. The reviews on these will back me up. I thought I'd give it a try anyway. The digital clock resets about once a week on mine, so the lights don't turn on when they're supposed to. I think it has something to do with a power surge it seems. I've returned them and picked up an exchange but it's the same thing with all of them.

yes, those coralife power surges are horrible. thats what makes the difference between true aquarium controllers and regular timers

Lets see if I can contradict you on your statement.
Wife and kids were fishing down at the dock on the mohawk river. I was carrying the poles and tackle from the bank over to the dock. NYS Trooper saw me and asked how my luck was. I replied that I havent had any luck. He proceded to issue me a citation for fishing without a license. I told him I wasnt fishing and that my wife and kids were. She had her license. Fought it all the way to court. During a TV interview, the missus said that all I did was untangle fishing line that got caught up on some sticks. Turns out that in NY if you are untangling line, that is considered fishing leagly. SO, unfortunatly I was fishing. Let me see if I can get the local news web page with the video.

I guess my statement was a blanket one...ok...there are rare instances, particularly in NY, where fishing may be unfortunate.

cant find the local news page as they took it down. Wayback machine cant find it either. The video was cool as it states that I was fishing with a barbie pole.

Ya these are just basic light timers. You can get them at wallys or home depot! I didnt get any digital ones because the more tech thats in the lil unit i figured the more that would go wrong with em.....
