Tiny jellyfish type creature

I recently noticed three of these creatures swimming around in my pod tank. They swim like a jellyfish, but when they stop swimming, they float around like a dandelion seed. When they land on a surface, it's always with what appears to be their tops (while swimming) against the surface. The part that dangles while swimming then becomes the "top", and it appears to flare ever so slightly with several long, slender segments. Remember... this is my pod tank, so please don't flame me for the mess. lol!

Thanks for the quick reply, BG. I removed all I could find, which turned out to be four. There wasn't a colony in the tank (I'm constantly checking for new growth), so I assume they hitchhiked on some recently added tufted joint or tea cup algae. I'll keep a close watch to see if anymore appear in the future. Thanks again!

They won't last long. I had these years back. Pretty cool to watch swiing around the tank really.

I found one that appeared to be attached, or attaching, to a rock. It was twice as big as the others, and I had to pry it loose. All in all, I've found seven... so far. They now live in St. Augustine. Grass... that is. LOL!

The jellies bloomed in response to all that nice live food in your pod tank. You'll need to keep an eye out for them, and be really careful about getting water from other systems into the tank, as a single drop can cause a bloom.
