That was one of the elements is that I didn't know the roads that well. I had ridden them once the day before. You can see in this photo, it is a decreasing radius turn and that's how I ended up on the outside of the turn. When I tried to lay it over further, it wouldn't turn as it started chattering and slipping.

Glad your Ok. I took a drive down there last year. If I remember correctly that road is close to the lindel Viaduct. Our section of the Blue Ridge Parky is quite twisty like that. We even have a road sign with a stick figure falling off a bike. which is right after the road sign that shows the road going in almost a complete circle. If you get a chance take a trip up the VA portion of the parkway it's quite beutiful.

I took a spill on my bike when a car full of drunk mexicans decided to make left turn into my left turning lane from their non turning lane... I had to lay it down or end up in the driver's window. I went down at 40mph... couldn't stop quick, there was dirt and debris on the road... and like the courageous group they were, they fled before I stopped sliding. I was actually surprised they didn't hit the wall as they took the turn VERY fast blowing by me and cutting over. I wore my jacket, gloves, and helmet... my jeans got all shredded by the road. and my left knee was messed up for about a month.

Shogun,
I still have full use of my right arm and that's all I need to hold a beer! Of course when the all the fighting starts, you and RU may have to take up a little slack for me.

Haaa. I don't think I can pick up much slack for ya. My right shoulder has never been right from a grade 2 tear in February from a getoff. I think I also have a slight fracture in my right wrist from a meeting with a tree a few months back!!! I can still chug a beer and light a stoge though!!!!!

tangman, do you ever have those "glimpse into the future" moments when you see squids with only gloves (or not even) romping their liter bike through traffic? I always seen to get a flash of what they might look like when "pretty boy face" meets asphalt or the back of a car...LOL drunk driver collision survivor nightmares ftl...

Tang, Tizzo was telling me about this thread the other day when I saw her. So glad ya made it OK. My right hand guy at work did Dragon's Tail a week and half ago. He came out unscathed, but made me watch a dozen or so helmet cam videos on you tube before he went.
Some folks have cajones grandes on that road. There was one that a ricer took trying to follow a Goldwing. They were whippin' man. You could hear the ricer's pegs scraping trying to keep up. Crazy.

I'll stick to dirtin' ATV's.

That is on the list for my wife and I to do but not on our sportbikes. I'm going to pick up Goldwing someday and we are going to do the whole road from end to end.

Well I have a good right arm and you have a good left are so we just put our bad shoulders together and work our way toward the door. RU can take care of himself.

Everytime I ride dude! Heck this is Florida where the standard gear is a wife beater, mesh helmet (ball cap turned backward), shorts and flip flops. I've also seen first hand just what you look like when you hit the ground that way.
I don't care hot it is. I always wear full gear. I'll wear full leathers up to about 85 degrees and then I wear full armored mesh which is still pretty warm but much cooler than leathers.

Might have been Yellow Wolf. From what I hear, he is the king of the Dragon with his yellow Goldwing. A friend of mine hired him to video him on the dragon and he is super fast. He said Yellow Wolf stayed right on his 6 through every turn.

tangman, wolf was indeed fast, and could keep up with 99% of the sportbikes up there. he has since retired.

If you're a new rider (or never ridden), and very enthusiastic (which you seem to be), check with your DMV if they sponsor a safety course; a bunch of states do through MSP. It's usually free, they teach you how to ride, and ride safely. It's a great way to get started, and a good refresher for some who've been riding for a long time.

I tell ya what Tang, after reading your posts, I'm tempted to spend the money and get an Arai too... my HJC just feels cheap sometimes. Course, I do need some full leathers too, my riding jacket is also a cheapo Joe Rocket, but it sure beats riding in a T-shirt and shorts.

haha I ride around in this one technik zip up leather top... also got a technik full leather suit.. cheap cheap... I've fallen in a technik before and sustained zero damage to what it covered so I guess they're not that cheap in quality. I dunno about an HJC, that may split upon impact. I hope I don't have to find out if my cheapo joe rocket carbon helmet is a dud. I never ride in shorts...lol. I went down in jeans and they got destroyed from the asphalt so I can only imagine what shorts would do. my riding course was $190.
