I tell ya what Tang, after reading your posts, I'm tempted to spend the money and get an Arai too... my HJC just feels cheap sometimes. Course, I do need some full leathers too, my riding jacket is also a cheapo Joe Rocket, but it sure beats riding in a T-shirt and shorts.

I think it is just important that it is Snell 2000 or later certified but there are arguments against it due to some saying the foam is too dense. The Arai is just a great helmet in that it is very light, comfortable and vents very well. It vents so well, it is a little loud. I can tell you though from my crash, it smacked the ground several times not to mention the guard rail and I never felt a thing during or after to my head so having personally crash tested it, I give it two thumbs up

I know a few others that have crash tested them and came out well also.
If you have never seen this guys reviews of the stuff he sells, he is a true believer in the Arai Rx-7. I personally will never wear anything else.

haha I ride around in this one technik zip up leather top... also got a technik full leather suit.. cheap cheap... I've fallen in a technik before and sustained zero damage to what it covered so I guess they're not that cheap in quality. I dunno about an HJC, that may split upon impact. I hope I don't have to find out if my cheapo joe rocket carbon helmet is a dud. I never ride in shorts...lol. I went down in jeans and they got destroyed from the asphalt so I can only imagine what shorts would do. my riding course was $190.

Teknic makes some great stuff now. They had a rocky start but their suits are top notch. My suit is going to be the Teknic Xcelerator if I don't buy the Dianese.

It's a drug man! I can't wait to get mine fixed and get back on. Take is slow and start out on a small bike. You will learn so much more. I couldn't ride my liter bike near as well as I could if I had not taken the time to learn on other bikes. A very wise and fast friend of mine once told me any motorcycle will kill you, but a liter bike wants to kill you. There is more truth to that than I believed when I heard it.

Personally, I don't need anything quite so big as a liter bike, I'm perfectly happy with my gixxer 600.
I might not have the top end, but the pickup is very nice.
I agree, though, a liter bike DOES want to kill.

yeah I've had faster cars than my k8 gixxer600, but the feeling and sound of the wind makes it seem alot quicker.. hahaha. I stayed below 10grand for awhile because thats where the real power starts...
btw: I got a teknic speedstar suit, they were having a 50% off sale at the bike store... I wouldn't have shelled out $1300... sadly I've worn it once, that thing gets too freakin hot to ride around in.. and I still haven't been to the track for what I bought it for..

I love the 600 race ready bikes and when I mentioned smaller, I wasn't referring to any of the race ready 600s. I'm thinking of buying a new 600 RR to use as a track bike because I know I'd be faster on it than my 1000 RR. My wife wants a 600 RR also so she will probably be getting the new Phoenix version next year.
