toad stool looking wierd....

Mine did the same thing. It even looked like there was spider web covering the entire top. It eventually peals off and the toadstool will look bigger and better. Here is the link to my thread regarding this issue:

i also switched from stock oddyssea 10k mhs to phenix 14k a day after i got this coral.

oops thought you meant 50 not .5 sorry. As for your toad... give him some time. here is a pic of mine going through his shedding process where his extensions stay retracted for a while during growth.
people have nitrate with 50ppm+ with corals no problem. mine is less then 1ppm.

sometimes mine gets a slime film over it and i pick it up and shake it a little bit
next day it opens...
