never heard that info... would love to see a source... cuz MetallicA was one of their biggest influences (along with several other bands) and the name GodSmack comes from Sully's beliefs...

I don't know if you trust Wikipedia, but its on there. Not that I had to check, I'd already known that for a long time.

FWIW I think Smash Mouth and Toadies are about on the same level. They're both mildly successfully and yet inevitably forgettable.

actually, I twisted it to fit YOUR logic. afterall, a band's greatness is determined by album sales, right?
exactly my point... you did twist to fit your needs... and as i stated the Pixies chose to disband because of internal issues... they all did other projects... its obvious what happened to Nirvarner... but look what Dave Grohl is doing, and i am suprised you havent said he is nothing but a exNirvarner member whose new band is a Nirvarner rip off...

it's called "using your logic against you". worked pretty effectively too.

Wow.. one of those "My opinion is superior to yours" threads.
Metallica was revolutionizing heavy music while the Toadies were in diapers. And if you came from Palo Pinto, you'd play rock-a-billy too. He has a unique voice, and Toadies is better than any Burden Bros. songs I've heard.
Whatever floats your boat, but everything Pre-black album Metallica had pretty good lyrics. The political aspect and musical composition was excellent. Now unfortunately, their music is just as sloppy as their poo-poo lyrics. I blame Bob Rock.
The Toadies are cool. But come on. I guess there are worse bands that could make a comeback.
Meshuggah. Kyuss. Crowbar. Underground is where it's at.

I wouldn't buy that if it came with a million dollar rebate. It's an AIC ripoff. No big deal. Layne and Jerry are worth being influenced by. I wonder what Sully's ashamed of. Maybe he was afraid he'd have to pay them for infringing on copyrights. The vocal influence has died down since they became their own band, but it's undeniably there. He even says "yeah" after half his lyrical lines... hahahaha. And as far as GodSmack goes, puh-leeze. The best thing they've done is the Led Zep cover, Good Times Bad Times. Not saying they suck. Just typical commercial cookie cutter metal. Like Disturbed. And don't get me wrong, I like both of those bands. They have great sounds, great production.
There are 1,000,000 underground bands out there with more talent you'll never hear of if you don't look farther than what MTV and radio offer you.

what it all boils down to is this.
if you like the band, awesome. if you think they are awesome, then more power to you. there are some bands i think are awesome but most people have never heard of.
just becareful when you throw out the "greatest band of blah blah blah" because inevitably (sp), it boils down to who sells records.
