It sounds like kids are doing it regardless... and that abstenence is the ideal way, but not realistic for everyone... so since they are doing it... most likely afraid of asking or discussing this w/ their parents.. she wants to make it available to reduce the 150 patients she's seen to give them access .. its a realistic approach to a problem... I would guarantee the # would be lower if this law existed... only problem with it is the pill doesn't protect from STD's...so education is equally as important.
So you want them to give the medications without your consent. Medications with significant side effects, and potentially fatal (DVT especially if they smoke) adverse reactions?

Funny thing, I had a goal and a dream, and I never let those things get in my way. Then again, I only depend on me, not someone else or the gov't.

well from my own life, i lost my v-card at 14, my family was very open always has been and i still didnt tell them me and my ex were doing the deed until i was 15. we were protected yes but i wanted to be safer so i went to my mom and we went to the ob/gyn got on bc and continued life. if i have a girl i would hope she would come to me but if she cant then i would hope that if shes going to be stubborn and well....ignorant and niave then i would want her to get what she needs ie. bc so that she could be safer. you've said yourself on another thread that the benefits of meds outweigh the risk of what would (could) happen. im not twisting your words sorry if it seems that way i mean there are risks with any meds you take but what could happen if they're not protected well, you see what happens, 17 more teen moms and more kids for the system to care for.

i never did, yet looking back i did stupid things.
these kids are going to look back in 3 years asking why they were so stupid...

If I knew at 16 what I knew at 20 and knew at 20 what I knew at 30 I would be damn rich

Sounds like Obama(s)care to me!
Tell you what, if someone did that behind my back they better have a really good health plan. The long term care option would be a good choice.

My point is the PARENTS should make the decision, not doctors, not teachers not the gov't. I know this is not a perfect world, neither am I. To take more parental rights just pushes us down the slippery slope. The parents should care for those kids, not the "system". Why did I have to wait to 30 to have my first kid? Why did I have to be responsible? Why do I give over half my income in taxes to care for those less responsible than me. I am not asking anyone to be perfect, just responsible for their actions.

oh ya i know what you mean, i agree but what about the kids who's parents are super religous and are in denial and then there little angel gets knocked up and they have to send her to some school in switzerland until the baby is born and adopted, or the kids who's parents just dont care or arent there. granted the latter are probably the ones that didnt want kids when they had them in the first place but the country is what it is, and at least some should be able to have at least some sort of advocate to help them if they are going to do it. i would rather be safe than sorry. people on here are the "good" parents if they are parents, but we shouldnt turn a blind eye to the kids who have lousy parents, i feel sorry for the kids, loathe the parents.

better yet lets solve the whole issue and come up with a fool proof abstinence belt and you have to take an IQ test to become a parent, or at least a competency test. i would vote for that.

So, my religion is against premartial ---, yet the school ( read gov't) will provide BC against my wishes and religious beliefs? I thought that was why we wrote the Constitution. There is a thin line between freedom and responsibility. We look out for some "bad" parents, but in general the gov't should not tell us how to raise our children.

True, it's harder to get a drivers' license.
In the past you had to own land to vote. There were good reasons behind that thinking in a representative republic. I guess this could be similar, you have to prove the ability to provide for and parent before you can procreate.
With great freedom comes great responsibility.

gave birth to a girl. What a great role model.

im not saying its right or should be done, im not denying it either. i know the govt says dont whip your children or its abuse to the good parents (there are some that take it too far). but cant help the ones that dont have parents to talk to about this. i regret having s.ex before i was married, i wish i would have waited i thought i knew everything, as do most teens. if its not bc at least con.doms or some other safer than none contraceptive. before they recieve them at least talk to a counselor but i know that wouldnt happen but just something other than the old pull out method.

i read that earlier on another thread, outrageous! and she works for a kids network, if i was network pres. she wouldnt have a job. that would have to be a stipulation in the contract before i would sign anyone, be a good upstanding role model. then again look at her sister, not much of a role model either.
we (my husband and i) dont own land, we live on an army post but we dont own land just for the reason he is in the army and they could tell us to move anytime, if they say ok your going to stay we would start looking for a place to buy asap.
its just ignorant that they will give a 16 a drivers license only with practice and passed tests, but they can have s.ex all they want without the proper education, doing it at all should not be an option but with it on tv and music the way it is they believe its the norm for everyone their age. its sad but true.

thats nothing, one of the high schools near me, albany high school, actually has a daycare center. they also have metal detectors at every entrance and every student wears a photo id around their neck. btw, albany ny is one of the most crime ridden small cities ever. never move here, upstate new york is the worst place ever.

I allways thought having those teen parenting centers at the schools. I think this just might show that is not such a good idea.
I wonder if these girls are being given the pregnancy tests without their partents knowledge..... No Tums without a not from their parents but pregnancy tests or OK.
