LOL...this morning on the way to work I stopped at a Braums and got a bagwl with bacon and egg. It cost $2.17
I gave the girl a $5 bill and got $2 and 4 quarters 1 nickel and 3 pennies....LOL
DUH...should have only gotten 3 quarters......SO I am at the drive thru.....I knock on the window and told them what happened and gave the quarter back....They looked at me like I was nuts
SORRY...my first reaction was to return the money
SO....CAN YOU BE TOO HONEST???? That is my question to you for the day

I think its a good thing when those who are unaccustomed to honesty can occasionally see what it looks like.

I remember going to Jack in the Box years ago. Bought 4 burgers and fries and handed them a 10 (like I said, years ago). They gave me back 12 dollars and change, and no, I wasn't too honest.
Back in the 90's me and my brother went through a Taco Bell for my mom who decided to do Mexican food for a get together. We ordered a bunch of tacos and Burritos and I mean a bunch. They must of lost track of the order because when we got home and un bagged every thing there were 2 extra boxes of Tacos and one extra box of burritos.

I don't think I would have realized. @ $2.xx and I handed them a 5, I'd just notice I'd get 2 dollars back and some change that would automatically get dumped into the ashtray.... Imagine I lose some, and win some, and in the end, come out about even...

The funny thing is ...I NEVER count change....the girl handed it to me wrapped in the $1's, and when I took it out to put it in its correct spot of my wallet, I saw the 4 qtrs
For all I know they short change me weekly.....LOL....

A quarter? Wouldn't bother with that.
More maybe...
Ahh...relative honesty...how much more does it take for full honesty to kick in? just askin'...
When I'd care, 1 dollar... No seriously, the other side the deeper side is that a quarter won't get em in trouble for their till being off. Usually it is around 2-3 bucks. When you start making some big chunks towards that, then I'd start caring...
Actually, funny story. I through the wendy's drive through, and she'd given me the completely wrong change, (I was up 2 bucks and some change). so I had it back to her, and say this is the wrong change. So then she hands me like 10 more bucks. So I hand it back again, and this time in spanish, (her English was TERRIBLE) and tell her exactly the change she needed to give me. And suddenly she hands me another 10 bucks. lol
At that point, I gave up and left. Their is only so much stupidity I can tolerate.

I'd probably have given it back if I'd noticed at the window like you did. If I'd pulled away I wouldn't go back... An I a bad person? No, just lazy LOL

Here is one for you, when I was in college I took some student loans to buy a new computer and help with some other bills. I went to the Bank to cash the check and there was a new teller on he was about I would say 20 or so. He had to get a loan from the Vault ( yeah if the dont have enough money to cash the check they have to get a loan for the drawer from the Vault) so he went and got the money from the supervisor. My Check that I was cashing was I think 2980.00 so he didnt even count the money back to me just stuck it in the envelope and handed it to me. That was his first mistake. Well I didnt count the money until I got home. I took the money out of the envelope and counted it and there was 3980.00. I was like this cant be right, so I counted it again, (MInd you by the time I got home from class it was 6:30) Pm. Well upon counting it again I got 3980.00. I was wait that is not right, So yet again I counted it and came out with the same number. What Had happened is when he got the loan from the vault they have the money wrapped in those money wrappers and when he didnt count it back to me he just stuffed in in the envelope he had added one to many bundles of the money that was in the wrappers. So, Honest me called the bank first thing in the morning to report that he had given me to much money.. When I took the money back to the bank, the Bank manager took me in to her office and thanked me, and then she told me that the tell and her had tried to figure out where the money had gone until 8 pm that night. I was like thinking to myself, what you could no figure out where the mistake was, then she told me that if I had not called they would have never figure out who he had given the extra money to. SHe said this was because they had cashed so many student loan check that day. She said the teller had got fired, and if the money was not returned that the teller would have been arrested because it was over $1000.00 that was missing. I am so glad that I was honest and brought the money back...

Scott,
You're a better man than I.
Banks are greedy and I would have taken the money and not even thought about the teller.
Kudos to you for saving someone from getting a fellony on a simple mistake.

Well I at the time I didnt know all of that until the next day when I brought the money back I was worried that they would know that I had been the one that he had given the money too. I am glad that he was not arrested also. That extra $1000.00 sure looked nice though but I could not keep it, it had to go back..

LOl...I had that happen when I was younger too....BUT my mother was an officer in a bank.....so I had a certain "loyalty" to banks....BUT I highly doubt I could have kept it anyhow
even though I was wrapping pennies and nickels to buy baby formula LOL.....Funny how back in my day we never considered welfare

I think I am just an honest person, which probably comes from my many days in retail and counting tills. There have been several times when I have been given extra change or not charged for product. I always let them know about the error.
*kinda related but a little off topic*
When I worked at KFC, we were told in one of our manager meetings about going the extra mile for the customers and that included giving people a pass if they did not have correct change, misplaced wallet or some other excuse. Now, I was like this is crazy and I will never do this. One day a lady went through the drive thru and when she got to the window she was in panic mode. Her kids were screaming in the back, and she could not find her wallet. I gave her the food and said not to worry about it and to take her time and come back later to pay. She was in shock, but relieved since her kids were hungry and she spent the day shopping (it was the holiday season). She came back like 2 hours later and with her wallet that she found at the last store she was in. I like to think more people are like this.

Know the self check-out machines at stores now-a-days, and how the machine dispenses the change automatically? The bills get dispensed below the scanner. The lady in font of me almost left without take the bills (2 or 3 singles). I called out to her and asked "Do you play on leaving those?" (with a smirk on my face).
She was very grateful, and the way she looked at me was like: "omg this guy is nuts for not taking my change after I left".. but she thanked me :)

I rarely have paper money. The only time I do is when I go to work because of the vending machines. If the machine suddenly spat out $20 dollar bills, I would take it and run.... they owe me at least that much from all of the money I've lost in their machine while trying to get my midnight Mocha Mud.
Now, I went home with an unpaid can of paint one time. I didn't go back. I would be more than happy to pay for it if they would personally come to my house.... but I'm not driving across town and waiting in line for their error.
Some of those take out people have to pay back what their till is out. Other places get in trouble if they are 5 bucks off....and get fired if that happens one too many times.
