torch coral

Got a torch coral from a frozen fed ex shipment. I left the corals in the tank just to make sure. The torch coral lost all of its green and looked empty now there is a cloudy bubble around the skeleton. Is it truly dead and should be removed or is this a defensive thing and its actually not dead? I can't get a picture that shows it.

It's a bacteria colony. If you keep the bacterial infection off the coral it may have a chance.

well we cleaned it off and the skeleton was empty so we took it out and threw it away... it smelled horrible too so I think it was definatly dead.

I wouldn't give up so easily, but it's yours so you can do as you like. Thechically, you only need to have a few cells survive.
