I got my torch saturday and it has been looking great ever since. Until I woke up this morning. The tentacles are no longer on one of the heads! Any help would be great! I am going to test my water soon. The only problem is I have two ear infections and I feel like sh**. Here are pictures though:

Clearly one of the head is dying just check your nitrate, calcium and alk. But torch are not that hardy compare to Hammer and Frogspawn sometimes they just die. Just maintain the water a check to see what is wrong with the water is all you can really do.

Is that brown stuff on there jelly like...If so you need to cut that head off and discard it...brown jelly disease will transfer to the other heads.....you can also take the other heads and do a fw dip....I did that with a hammer, and the other head looks great now

How do you cut the head off? and I thought a FW dip would kill it?

I am going to do a 20 gallon water change because of hair algae so that will probably help. I will go check the water now.

NO...A fw dip will not kill it...Cut the head off with a knife or whatever you have to use...get the hole stalk...they cut surprisingly easy...then fw dip your other head and put it back in good flow

What if my cleaner shrimp eats all of the brown jelly? He is literally eating it! Is this okay?
I would get the bad head off...and dip the rest as soon as you can...JMO
AND I AM NO EXPERT...Just have done it

I still don't know what to cut it with?
Do you have a razor knife? I think when we cut ours we used my husbands switchblade, and like I said...it was much easier to cut than I thought it would be

Hiya,
My branches were so fragle that I was able to snap it off with a pair of needlenose pliers.
Ca of 340 is low...you need to get that up to 400-420.

When you take Euphyllia out of your tank make sure not to expose it to air....If you pulled it out of the bag when you put it in your tank that may have caused the problem....Anytime you transfer Torch's, frogspawns and hammers transfer them in a bag or container of water. I would agree cut off the head and place back in the tank....Just cut it off in a bucket

Yes I know. I like to keep it at 450. I just made a 20 gallon water change and that took care of everything.

Thank you! That was the problem. But I did that with my frogspawn also and it looks fine. I thought you just did that with sponges and anemones. Thanks! I will not do it again. I am going to cut that head of and then dip it in Lugol's dip.

If you see brown wispy strings coming out of the heads, it is probably expelling its zooanthelle. In addition to other issues it may be having.
