Toys that don't last

I wish we had more appreciation for the stuff we get. I have a house cluttered with toys for my 2-year old daughter. This crap is everywhere. When I'm not tripping over little pink chairs and mini-strollers for fake plastic babies, I'm stepping on and smashing little fake plastic fruit. And yet, you know what my daughters favorite toy is? a $3 "Lightning McQueen" car from the movie "Cars." I don't get why I need to live in a house that can easily pass for a Toys R Us when all my daughter needs is a $3 toy car.
I have a good feeling this thread will provoke me to get the free section of craigslist going for this year.
Anyone else feel similarly?

Sounds like someone can't handle the added responsibilities and demands having a child brings.
Either that or you should clean up after your kid.

I think that's a bit misguided. I know my family has tons of toys. I have 3 young (2-5 yrs old) sisters. We (parents and I) clean up everything every night. by 11 the next morning you couldn't even tell we'd done anything.

No it's not a matter of clean-up. It's that we have so many toys and she never plays with them. If we're going to spend money then at least get some use out of them, you know?
I could always pull the "There are starving children in Africa...." eh, nevermind. I think it will reach a point where I snap and take everything to a homeless shelter. At least I'll know the toys are being appreciated.

Good idea, the homeless bums can trade them for alcoholic beverages during the holidays to the average citizen instead of begging.

Yeah...all those little 5 year old homeless bums that you see out there every day begging for money so they can buy whiskey

I think a shelter is a great idea...many good people with small children who are down on their luck would appreciate it

Is that true??? Crafty B@stards.
Speaking of which, I once saw a homeless man on the way home from getting McDonalds for the family. I figured I could give up one of the 4 cheeseburgers I bought for myself, so I pulled over and handed him one. He threw it back at me and said "Cash only!" After receiving a few expletives from him, I learned my lesson. I was still mad though. I only had 3 burgers to eat now. Why, God??!!? Why?!?!!?

Wow, how messed up. I mean, I would NEVER spend $20 on a bottle of Jack and just give it away.

I've never heard of SIngle Barrel, and I've been to Salinas plenty of times. Is it a fast food chain?
LOL ... Jack Daniels Single Barrel. It's the better version of jack, like Gentlemans, etc ....

Ohhh I see. I'm more a fan of Jameson's Whiskey. It's worth the extra $2. You should try it sometime. I drink it with coke or 7-up.
Never tried single barrel. I'll have to give it a shot.
