There are so many of both types. If indeed it is a wrasse I would say reef safe. The nonreef safe Have a diff look.
food wise most are meat eaters so any of the popular frozen options.
This is just an educated guess tho lol. If I had to bet I would say a wrasse

I don't think so it has shown no interest in other fish in my tank and its eating food pellets.

it looks very similar to my gray snapper as far as body shape. but if it is from south Florida it opens up many possibility's. i will haft to search my fish id book and replie with a proper id.

it strongly resembles the grey snapper, you can see the line across its face. it is also looks similar to a hog fish. only time will tell what the fish is when it is mature.

No... I'd say that it is in the Serranus genus,basically a sea bass/basslet also known as the Belted sandfish
