There's a bit more to efficiency than a bottle and some air stones.....Bottom line comes down to efficiency......
i have to agree. it worked but I wouldnt call it efficient. it did pull gunk which was better than nothing though.
overall it was easy to build I took a 2 liter bottle and cut two large holes in the bottom sides (big enough to fit the limewood airstones, and a mag float through) siliconed a plastic dixie cup over the neck so the top stuck up about an inch and a half into the cup then used a large mag float to stick it to the side of the tank and moved it up and down to get the skim correct. used an air pump with dual output and a splitter to run the airstones.
the drawback was I had to remove the entire skimmer to dump the cup, and like acrylic mentioned the efficiency probably couldn't be called spectacular. lolz but it did work until i could afford a skimmer.
