Hi everyone! We are first time saltwater tank owners. Other than reading on-line and visiting a friend with one, we had no experience with saltwater tanks. We both had the dream to have one so we are learning along the way. Patience seems to be the key ingredient in this hobby. We started by purchasing a tank from a guy who moved and had no room for this beautiful tank. We are a little late posting the beginning of our process....but we got the tank March 13, 2009.

We ordered 120 lbs. of white sand to put in the tank. We added our water in and we definitely got the cloudy look that everyone warned us about!

Haha. The reason you have two shirts on is because in one you are putting the salt in and in the other we are adding the sand. lol
Here is a picture of the sump the first time we put in in. We ordered one with no directions so we were putting it together by some phone instructions from a friend.

Here are some pics of the tank when we added our first few pieces of rock and put up some lights on to make do until we found a light to buy.

We added a blue background to the tank and got a cup of seed from a friend that has had his tank for at least 7 years.

Couldn't quite fit all the pics on the last one so here are the rest of our cleaner crew and a few more with the rock not yet arranged.

Okay, I think we are up to date now. We purchased our last pieces of rock this week, got it all arranged where we are happy with it, and finally purchased a light. We also got our sump rearranged and set up nicely. The light has been mounted in the canopy. We have air holes at the moment and the back of our canopy is open, however we are looking at fans this weekend to install to take some of the heat out.
