Typing this on my iPad

So I bit the bullet. I got one. This was after saying numerous times to myself that I wouldn't, but after I tell you this story, I think you'd understand.
I get a big check from my grandma to help buy one. I decide I need new tires instead so I pass on the iPad. Then a $339 check comes in the mail from a work reimbursement request I filled out weeks ago and totally forgot about. Still I say no. Then we get a $250 check from another member of the family for no reason. Still say no. Then my brother sends me money for his portion of the cell bill (I had already paid it in full and was not expecting it) and that was the last straw. It seemed like every time we said no to the iPad, more money came flooding our way. Part of me wanted to continue saying no just to see how much more money we could get out of the blue.
Guys, this really is a great piece of machinery. I think it's going to be a great addition to my work life, and personal life.
Did anyone else on here bite the bullet and pick on up?

I think most of those who would buy an iPad generally wouldn't get the 64gb version. Why do you need 64 gigs of stuff all at once on a mobile device? I have three movies, about 800 songs, and my entire photo library synced and that's still only 8 gigs. I spent the $9.99 and got a word processing app so I can do work on it, but aside from that, you generally don't need all that extra gear. I recently read on CNN that the 3G model wont catch on just because there are now so many free wifi networks around that it wont be too necessary.
Personally, I'm happy with mine... And I don't mind being a guinea pig for apple. So far, it's performed pretty flawlessly.

I have an iphone and a laptop. It just seems to be not enough of either category to justify it. I suppose if I had a desktop and no laptop it'd be worth the novelty. However I usually spring for my laptop when I want to do some real typing anyways.

I have the Iphone and work for AT&T.
I hate Apple, the company, but I love their products. I hate that they control everything, when it comes to their products, but I love the products.
I plan on buying an IPad, when I have the extra money.
The 3G isn't gonna be that much better. It's basically going to run on AT&Ts 3G service, which still pulls from cell towers...and you only get 3G service if you're in a larger city. For those of us that live in farm country, we get the AT&T Edge network, but is almost just as fast.
I'm jealous you already have one. lol

Yup, we bought ours 3 weeks ago... arrived at the door on the 3rd. My boyfriend does development for iphone and for Ipad. You can't really make apps for a product that you don't have...

As for us... we have
2 iphones
2 macbooks (1 pro)
1 ipad
1 imac
2 apple tvs
3 ipods

I never have tech problems and This way, my BF can do development for most apple products, since he has them and knows how they work, 1st hand.
downloaded the book reader. SOOOO much nicer than that kindle that we had. That thing was a complete strain on the eyes to read... the contrast was awful. This book reader is amazing. And you get a free book...
haha it's winnie the pooh... with pictures.

It is not the same. I will never get over that great smell of a book. I wish they could bottle that smell. Especially a really really old book... it smells like time.

So what exactly can you do with the new Apple iPad?
That question will likely be best answered by what apps - or mobile applications - become available for the touch-screen device.
Ahead of the iPad's Saturday release, Apple decided on Thursday to put more than 2,500 iPad apps up for sale on its App Store, giving techies a first glimpse at an answer to that all-important question.
Reviewers who already have the iPad are weighing in. Note that these apps are generally pricier than those for the iPhone or iPad Touch. The big difference? iPad apps are bigger, allowing for fancier designs.
Here are a few iPad apps that caught our eye:
•----: It's free and has bigger photos of products, theoretically making it easier and faster to sort through them.
•Marvel Comics: The iPad's 9.7 inch screen shows off color books better than grayscale e-readers.
•The Elements: Reviewers are in love with this app, which is basically a multimedia e-book about the periodic table of elements (think of your childhood place-mat gone digital). The price is steep, though, if you're used to $0.99 iPhone apps. It sells for $13.99.
•NBA: Reviewers say this app is great for statistics fans, since graphs and court diagrams are easier to show off on a bigger screen.
•Epicurious: The preview photos of this recipe-book app look pretty cool. And the app is free.
•Netflix: You still need a Netflix subscription, but this free app lets you stream movies and TV shows offered by Netflix onto the iPad's large screen.
•EA games: Scrabble, Need for Speed and Tetris are getting buzz from CNET. Some gamers hope the large screen will make games more engaging on the iPad than on the iPhone. Others are skeptcial. Some titles could just look over-inflated.
•Box.net: Sites like Box.net and Dropbox archive documents "in the cloud," so you can access them from anywhere. Wired says these services are a whole lot easier to use on the iPad's big screen.
•iWork: Apple's suite of apps costs $9.99 and are aimed at business and student types. They help you create presentations, documents and spreadsheets.
