On a side note.. prices on the JBJ miniarctica have dropped.. so when you give up on this crazy expensive idea, you'll be able to get that chiller relatively cheap..

I highly doubt that those JBJ chillers will be able to chill a 100 gallon tank down to 55F.

if you are still seriously considering this, remember that plantlife finds and forces itself into any area that contains water. maybe saltwater would stop this, or some plants, but some weeds or resistant tree will eventually force it's way into these little pipes. the whole thing will have to be replaced. i just had to re-route my house's AC drainage system because of this. also, what about sediment build up? if it does not stop up the flow, it will be a trap for detritus and bacteria that will eventually foul up your system if it can't be flushed, like any other closed loop.
