It's looks pretty nice, does it spread quick? Just to make sure and get rid of it if it's a pest.

YUP...They are pest anemones and you want to get rid of them....from what I have read, they do spread and will take over your tank....
too bad though...they are kinda nice...

It is a shame some are pretty like this one shown. I am lucky I never have had any of them.....A friend with a 75 had little yellow ones get out of control on a couple rocks in the back of her tank.......
After weeks of trying to rid them, using Kalk paste, lemon juice, etc. She eventually gave up and removed those rocks to disinfect them.. ...... They easily can become insidious little killing pest.......

If you can take the rock out put a little table salt on them. They will let go and you can get rid of them.

I'm often not quick to kill things. If you've had this rock awhile and it hasn't spread... you can keep the rock off to the side and keep an eye out. They are an attractive "pest" anemone. Do you have or intend to have a lot of corals? Most pest anemones are so named because they can reproduce well, and sting corals. If that is not your plan, then it may not be an issue.

So how do anemones show up all the sudden? Is it likely something that hitchhiked in as a tiny guy on a piece of live rock?

Yeah, I'm assuming that one came with that piece of LR since that LR wasn't touching any other rock

I've had that rock for about 3-4 months, but we just added a 250w MH yesterday and maybe it'll start growing
I hope not because we just had a "talk" about what to do with "Betsy" and we decided to keep her and keep an eye on it, as long as it's only her and NO kids of her

Maybe I'll just keep that piece of LR away from the rest so it won't hurt anything else
