Update on my 150G

Ok, so I don't want to create another thread, so I'm going to work off of this.
A few things since my last post.
My LFS guy told me that I can use a toothbrush and pull the GHA off the rocks easily. I've done this and I must say, my tank is starting to actually look like a decent looking tank again! There are still a few spots that could use a clean up but I'm going to purchase a few more mexican turbos and let them at it. I did a test on my water and my levels are pH - 8.2 maybe 8.3 and my Nitrate 0. Someone mentioned that my Nitrates could just be covered up by the algae causing my numbers to be off, but I'm going to assume at this point it's zero since I haven't see any additional algae growth since my last algae removal.
I haven't been able to find the pink crab since my last post. However, I've decided since I haven't seen any damage done then I'm just going to leave him in my tank. For all I know, he could be doing more good than harm at the moment. another HOWEVER! My emerald crab on the other hand, got on my bad side last night. All lights were off (except my moonlit LED's) and I noticed a crab on one of my rocks. Well this rock was where all of my GSP sits and I found the crab trying to rip the GSP off the rock and trying to eat it. I guess the word TRYING is a poor choice of words, since he demolished a decent section on that rock. I immediately put one of my tools in there and pretty much shood him off the rock. If I catch him again, he'll be an appetizer for me.
Lastly, I've decided my stock list:
I currently have-
2 clowns
5 PJ cards
1 blenny
10-30 snails, 3 mexican turbos, 1 emerald, 1 mystery cab, 1 peppermint srimp, many britle stars.
GSP, and Hammer Coral.
I've decied I'm going to be getting the following (in order of how I'm going to be purchasing them):
1 Hippo Tang
1 Fu Manchu
1 Yellow Tang
1 Goby (Yet to be decided on)
1 (Other normal size fish) or 4-6 smaller fish that will school that the Fu Manchu can not eat.
Again, I have a 150 gallon, 5' long x 2 1/2' tall x1 1/2' deep. I'm pretty sure this should add a nice look to my tank and it shouldn't be too crowded to the point where fighting happens.

So I bought some new test kits, API... I'm starting to regret getting that though... they're very cheap. It looks like my calcium is 560ish?... is that too high? I'm going to finally check my phosphate and carbonate hardness as well and I will get back to you all with that shortly.

calcium is high, CH is alright, phosphate is high. Basically similar ot my tank. My calcium was 460, CH was 9 and phos was .25 I will be taking measurements again tomorrow to see if the no flakes has solved the phosphate issue.

phospates that high will give us nusance algea. Not sure about calcium at high levels. IF you have any SPS or LPS they are loving the extra calcium maybe.

0.25 is high for phosphate? I can't imagine that's high seeing that that's the next one up from 0 and my scale shows up to 20.

phosephate should be at 0. Its like ammonia or nitrite, you dont want any in your tank. Its not harmful to inhabitants like ammonia or nitrite, but you still dont want any in the tank.

Just a question/thought for others, but if you are getting a reading of .25 AND have all that HA that may be binding up more, is your TOTAL phosphates a good bit higher?

Thought about this a bit more and looked it up. Are you sure it is .25, not .025??
I looked at several tables of acceptable levels and .25
is waaaay out.
Look here:

I'd also like to hear what other's say on my question in the above post.

the API test kit starts at 0 with yellow. then it goes to a very light shade of green at .25 and then darker green from there for higher numbers. Basically any reading using hte API kit would be bad as you have to assume any color other than yellow is a reading ang that would be bad.

I had not looked at an API phosphate color chart until now, I see what you are saying, the resolution of the test is rather wide.

Ok, so I need to knock out my phosphates. I didn't realize that .25 was THAT high seeing they make it look like it's VERY low compared to the chart. A bit misleading if you ask me.
So if you'd all be so kind of answer my question... How do I kill my phosphates? I want it at ZERO!

Water changes
Less feeding
Better foods
Rinse foods
Phosphate reactor
chemi-pure elite
phospure pads

Ok. Well... I feed half a cube every other day to eight fish (I believe that is as little as I should feed eight fish... right?). I feed them occasionally frozen brine shrimp, but feed them at all times reefmix. It's a mixture of clam, shrimp, and all this random other stuff. I can't remember who recommended it, but that's what I've been feeding since. Since about a month ago, I've been thawing the food, and then dumping it through a fish net keeping only the good food and removing the milky junk that comes with it. I try and do water changes as frequent as possible, but with my time schedule and the way everything is set up, water changes are more of a task than anything. But I will continue to try and do them.
Now on the these last three things. Phosphate reactor? Chemi-Pure? Phospure Pads? All of these are foreign to me. I'm going to do some research and will be looking at adding all of this as I NEED my algae to be out of my tank.
Now I was also wondering. Should I be able to get the phosphate number down to zero, will my green hair algae just disappear? Or will this still be something I will have to remove on my own?

LOL...nothing just disappears....altho mine did....HAHA>......I did all the things listed and also picked a lot out by hand
I have a phosphate reactor 550, and run GFO pellets in it....you can probably get the reactor 150....about $45....I run mine with my return pump
the GFO is actually pretty costly.,....BUT WORKS
The chemi-pure ELITE is something you run in your filter.....WORKS GREAT TOO
I also use phospure pads ..lol....I love this picture....they are actually green in color.....anyway I just cut a thin piece and place it in water flow from the sump
