UGH on cash or gift card/certificate! I can pretty much guess what I'll get :) Every year hubby gets me a huge bouque of roses and chocolates. I love candy so I'm a happy camper. Few years he got me jewelry, but now I get it for Christmas so I want chocolates for Valentine's :)

Guy's gift...A 'get out of jail' free card to be used for a 'minor' mistake. He was late for something; forgot something...etc. He can use it one time, anytime, and you will smile and just say "oK, you are forgiven".....no reprisals/questions/grumpiness...

PS..'Minor' does not include dating someone else on Valentine's day!

that's a decent idea but i'm not your typical girl...i don't usually get upset over things cuz he forgets a lot of things and is often late (our anniversary i spent with my roommate b/c he got tied up at home when he and his buddy got the quad stuck in the mud). but i can definitely build on this idea...

This is one of the differences between men and women. Women may see it as an excuse to misbehave. Men see it as a chance to not have a little mistake turn into a full blown meltdown by their S.O..

In our household little things don't turn into meltdowns. In order for that *card* to be a real gift it would be for a major mistake... hehehe and I don't think that would fly. ;)

Very nice. I hope my daughter will grow up with that attitude. I am just realizing as I write this that I am not prepared for her to start dating

just so you know, you'll NEVER be ready for her to date! my dad still looks at my boyfriend like he's stealing his "bear" (long story, nickname basically) from him. and so long as you raised your daughter to think before she speaks i don't see any reason why she wouldn't take the same attitude!

All you need to do is whenever a guy comes by to pick her up say "If you hurt my daughter in anyway you had better go ahead and call the cops because they will go much easier on you than I will" That should stop any problems before they start

I think this is why God only gave me boys. If she were allowed to date, she'd be 25, and I'd still probably get locked up for something I did to him

My husband says that he has a line ready for the boys who come and date our twin girls ...
"I've been to prison and am not afraid to go back"

Can you imagine being a daddy and having identical twin girls who happen to have strawberry blond hair? It's a horrible thought and a reality even for a mom. I've always said that they won't be dating until they are 21 and we'll be nailing shut all upstairs windows.
