A simple thank you isn't enough Joe.

Best call Pops and tell him thanks too........he's never really spoke about it.... and that probably says more than words can ever say. A couple landing craft stories.... but that's about it. Poor Pops.

I would like to personally thank all members of the military past, present and in the future for defending our great nation. No matter what your political or religious affiliation you have and will always answer the call.

Thanks Joe.
I'd also like to thank Grandpa for serving in WW1 and pops who served multiple tours in the Korean War and Vietnam. God decided he needed a good soldier this year, I miss pops a lot.

Trust me I welcome home every solider I meet. Here is my families linage in the Armed forces. Right now have a brother in the USAF as a Master Sargent my other Brother was a Marine. I was declared 4f Epilepsy so could not serve. Had 4 uncles serve in Vietnam. 2 Grandfathers in WW2 one as a Ball Turret gunner in the 15th AF the other as a Radioman on the LST 399 in the Pacific. Trust me I know what it takes to keep this nation free. Lost 3 close friends at Fort Hood this last week via that Major AHOLE Hasan that wanted to start a holy war. We were all members of the same guild in an online game.

We watched the Red Skelton Pledge of Allegiance thing at school twice today. Even though I have now seen it 18 times, it still makes me think.

Strange but I'm 32 (1977) and my Grandfather served in WWI in the Danish army (born in 1892). My dad was the last of 10 kids and all 6 sons served in the Navy including the first one with Admiral Byrd/Bird?'s first failed expedition to the South Pole (and later kicked out for punching out an officer). The second son became a recruiter and recruited all the other boys. Against my dad's push (not much of one) I joined the Air Force over the Navy and 14 years later I don't consider myself a veteran in the same likes of those from WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and other conflicts around the world. Sometimes it doesn't feel right being thanked walking around town in uniform but it is still always appreciated as I feel like those that really deserve it are the ones being thanked through me. It's what I do, but I feel it's what they HAD to do for our country.
So to Joe and other real vets that allow us to complain how rough we have it these days I do this
as there is no salute icon.

Thank you to all the vets for your service to this country and our people.
Thank you for our men and women now serving; God keep you all safe.
We are a great country because of each of you, past and present.
My own Dad was a veteran of WWII and Korea. Very proud of him.

To all of the vets out there, THANK YOU and WELCOME HOME!!!!
I come from a military family. My grandfather, father, and both brothers all served and fought. I am very proud of them, and all of the brave men and women who fought, and still fight for this country... GOD bless every one of you, and thank you once again.

This time of year always makes me think of my great uncle who flew a glider into France ahead of the D-Day advance. He then went on to be stationed in Japan after the surrender.
