VHO in regular fixture?

Can you put a VHO bulb into a regular light fixture that you could get at Home Depot or does it reqire a special fixture? Is there a good way to rig up something like this?

You can, but you have to make sure the fixtures are rated for the proper wattage as the bulbs. If it's not, then the bulb will either not work or blow out.

However, it's always better to have a proper rated ballast with it!

There is a chance that a VHO will operate in a normal fixture. It will not give any more light than a $1.00 bulb though.
Get a good VHO ballast and do it right
I LOVE the IceCap 660's from this site. I have 4 of them and they seem to last a Looooong time and do a great job.
Safer* than other ballasts too.
