I have an Icecap 660 with a 4 bulb system. My lfs only had 3 bulbs left so I am missing one out of the 4. When I go to turn on the lights they turn on for 2 secs then right back off. Is this because I'm missing a bulb or do you think it's something else? Thanks!

You must cap off the the wires not being used in the extra endcaps (not being used). Trying to run three bulbs in a four bulb configuration, the circut is open and therefor the bulbs can't be lit. Go to icecapinc.com website and check out the wiring for the 3 bulb configueration. HTH

Great, thanks!!! We were just testing it out and thought it was broken! We'll be getting the fourth bulb on Tuesday!

Your saying all 3 bulbs go out? 2 of the should light, but the other bulb that is in the circuit missing the other bulb shouldn't light.....If you have some spare regular 40W shop light bulbs swap them in and see if you still have the same problem with 4 bulbs installed.

Good idea Acrylic51! That way you won't have to change the wiring (for now) to see it it is operational.

If it's an IceCap then just use a 40 watt until you get the other bulb. Icecap will overdrive the bulb and give you 80 watts of light anyway.

All 3 shouldn't shut off.....I would pick up a cheap 40W bulb and see and if it still does then you possibly have wiring issues to the endcaps......

IceCap ballasts check for a good connection. Believe it or not this is a good thing because it can prevent a fire. Most other ballasts won't shut down and may arc.
Just double check all of the connections in the endcaps if it still just blinks after you have the 4th bulb in.

Again have to agree with Bang.....check connections....It should light with just 2 bulbs on the 660 even if you have all 4 wired.......as long as 2 of the bulbs are in place on the same side of the ballast wiring it should fire.....sounds like something is either loose or crossed.......Double check the wiring diagram on the ballast and make sure you have your 2 installed bulbs on the correct wiring.

:notsure: Even though you have it wired for 4 lamps as long as 2 of the lamps are installed on the same circuit per say it will fire......if you pull 1 of the 4 lamps out of the endcaps then only 2 lights would fire......You can take a 660 ballast and run just 2 8' lights on it, so yes it would work with just 2 lights connected.

Thanks for all your help guys! We ordered in another bulb and now it works fine! Sooo, it just wasn't working because it was missing that 4th bulb! Thanks again! :joy:
