VHO Placement

Finally got my canopy built to house my 440 VHO on my 55 gal. Currently the lights are about 8 inches from the waterline. What is the ideal height from the waterline to mount these lights?

Mine are about 1.5" from the water. However, I have to remove the salt spray once a week or so.

Same here about 2 or so inches above the water.

Mine are the same 2" above, but just a side note to help others..
I bought the clear shop covers for the tubes at Home Depot..they make cleaning the tubes an easy task..the salt does not stick well to them, like it did to the tubes themselves!! You will have to cut them down slightly (length) to get your end caps on, but they are well worth the .50 each!!
