waiting time after a water change

I was just wondering how long do u wait to test your water after a water change or after adding a buffer? Say if your trying to raise your PH with a chemical do u wait 1 day after adding it or do u wait a half an hour? same with water changes do u just change the water and test right away for what ever problem your trying to fix?

I usually only test once a week regardless what happened during the week unless the animals look bad. I don't test after water changes and I would never add a chemical to raise PH.
When something needs to change I do it so slowly that results wouldn't show up for a week anyway so there's no reason for me to test more often than that.
