I think it would be a good idea to get input from everyone on this.
1. What is your favorite reef safe fish?
2. Picture, if you have one. If not no big deal.
3. Why is this the coolest reef safe fish? Anything about this fish a pain, ex. picky eater, must have very good water parms etc.
Im in need of new ideas for a new tank im going to start and this would be very helpful!

the Mandarin is an awesome fish but how big can they get, i had one that was very small! Good choices tho.
Mr. Paisley (in the picture) is about 9 years old and is just slightly over 2" long.

Thank you :)

I dont know if this is considered reef safe, but he is in my reef.. Clown or leaflip Grouper. He is easy to take care of and has a great personality, but does not get along with others.

I would consider it reef safe but it's not safe with crustaceans or any other fish. It needs to be the only fish in the tank.
Cool specimen though

They spawn about once a month. I spent a frustrating year attempting to raise the larvae. I have been unable to do it.
Perhaps it's a lack of some element in my water, temp, I really could not pinpoint it. Maybe it's because I refuse to dose Iodine
who knows.
Here's a pic of Mr. & Mrs. Paisley spawning, it's a terrible pic because they only spawn when the lights are out.
...and a pic of Mandarin larvae, out of hundreds and hundreds of larvae I never got a single one to reach metamorphasis.

If i can i'll ask the local breeder of dragonets who breeds all kinds and then rears them on to frozen mysis before he sends them off to the lfs hnce i will only buy dragonets from that specific store but hes been raising them for years now i know he lives about a mile from me so when he brings in the next lot the lfs should ask him a few questions as i'll tell them its for a friend who lives in the US he should give it up.
(hopfully)
also i love the the pic of the two bunched up together for the shot lol looks like one squeezing one into the pic lmao!
