I don't know if it matters, but I have a 35g trash can...I make my water up 1-2 days ahead...I leave the lid on so no dust (or cat hair...LOL) gets in.....I also do not use a heater...I has a Mag7 and it seems to heat the water up pretty good all by itself....

If you are not worried about the pH , than it does not matter. If you cover the can, the pH might go down.

I don't seal the lid...LOL....I just loosely place it over the top...
It would surprise me if you need a heater with a mag18....do you have an extra thermometer?

That should be fine....I actually keep trays of ro/di ice made up....I have had to cool the w/c water down before...remember you want your water to match your dt water as best you can

Have not really noticed...I have 3 containers...LOL...A 5g for my 29g...I use a bubbler for that the mag 7 cooks the water
a 10g for the 54g (horse tank) I also use a bubbler cause I need this water to be much cooler....do a w/c 1x a week
and the 35g which I make about 25g's.....do a w/c 1x a week
I USUALLY make my water one day and change it the next...IF I wait 2 days..well it's cause something came up..LOL....try to do a w/c 1x a week...sometimes it is every other week
ya know....there are only sooo many hours in a day

As long as you are not having any problems..IMO...yes that should be fine
ALSO...IMO I think it is a good idea to keep ro/di ice...cause you never know when you may need to cool the water down....
