I am in the process of switching to my 90g RR tank. I have 2 250 MH 10k and 2 110 VHO... I live in NJ .... so far the weather is still cool.. I am thinking I am going to have a heating issues... right now with nothing in the tank except sand and water the tank is getting up to 82-83 F I dont even have a heater running. I have 1 4" Icecap fan on the top and 2 3" fans on the side... I might run a small air conditioner in the summer but not sure if i want to invest into a chiller.

Hw do you have the fans set up...?
Do you have the two 3" side fans blowing in and the 4" top fan sucking out..."
Or all three blowing in and the back of the canopy open for air to escape...?
There has been a big "debate" on the "sucking" vs "blowing" issue down in the DIY and Equipment forum...do a search and check it out...
I think you may find it more effective to be "blowing" the two 3" side fans "at/across" the top of the water to facilatate cooling of the water through evaporation and then the third "top" fan sucking hot air out from the lights...
You should be able to get good cooling if your properly set up...
I'm getting 2 deg cooling with the MH on and a 4" fan "blowing" across the top of the water and "air vents" exiting the top of the canopy...

If the temp is that high now, the summer will be rough i do believe an air conditioner to be in order. Dont want a tank meltdown.

Air conditioning the entire room is probably your best bet. Air conditioners dry the air and this will increase evaporation. The extra evaporation will keep your tank water cool.
It will also be a nice room to hang out in the summer :)

I bought a swamp cooler this spring and ducted it throughout the house, with a duct over my reef tank. I live in the desert in SoCAL and it gets really hot at times. My tank got over 90D last summer and almost killed everything in it. My LFS told me that it would almost cost me $300-400 in electricity to run a chiller. To run the normal air all the time would cost me about $350 a month. So my lFS told me to run a swmp cooler and so far my house is really cool and the temp on the tank is at 78d. We have had temp alreadyin the 100 this spring
