water tested for copper

I had my water tested for copper. There is barely a trace of it in there, after a partial water change and carbons for copper absorbtion . Even after 'stirring' things up before taking the sample. I did a partial water change and added new carbons and will have it tested again next week. The live rock is obviously still alive btw, and the place I bought it...the guy said if the copper was strong...it would be 'dead' by now...but those tube thingies are not dead....still trying to figure out what they are though...lol. I am going to try and get a pick and post that.
Maybe things aren't as bad as I thought they were, ha bdz???? lol

If you put copper in your display tank you can never totally get rid of it. Not good for corals, inverts..both currently and in the future. The copper can be released back out of the rocks, etc. at any time.

Ya, so I've been told, but I have also been told that is not true. I have ALSO been told that not enough copper would leak out to harm anything. I have been told so many different things about the copper that is has almost gotten to the point where it is funny. I am just going to take the info I get from the people I trust and go with that. I have been told to start over, that my crabs will die, they are pretty lively...look far from dead....my live rock is still live too...I have been told that I was stupid and I was personally emailed and called an idiot. Well, people can think what they want, but I'll just be the Copper Experiment Person and we'll see how it all turn out in the end, the we will know FOR SURE, how's that?????????????
:jumping: :happyfish Then all will be soooooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!! But, may I add this.......
DO NOT ADD COPPER TO YOUR MAIN TANK. 1) DUMB IDEA
2)PEOPLE WILL EAT YOU ALIVE
3) NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE, THE WORRY, THE STRESS, YOU NAME IT....IT JUST AIN'T WORTH IT, LEARN FROM THE 'IDIOT'.

Loopy...You are no idiot...I added copper to a tank I had years ago. I follwed the advice of the lfs dude. I have been in this hobby for over 30 years and have probably made all the mistakes.
My very first salt aquarium wasa 29...the lfs sold me two damsels to cycle the tank. After the tank cycled...I added the following and the lfs said it would be okay:
Small -medium queen andel
Long Nose Butterfly
Red Flame Hawk
Tomato Clown
Sebae anmone
Arrow Crab
Coral banded Shrimp
All went in the tank the same time...all died within a month.

I set-up that tank when I was about 15 years old...that was back in the days when a colored tv was a big thing:hilarious

Don't feel bad. Remember this... posting on the internet requires no credentials. Heck, I could be Jacques Cousteau reincarnated or a 10 year old with a goldfish bowl.
Anyone who will take the time to privately email you and call you an idiot is probably on the lines of the 10 year old with a (dead) goldfish bowl.
I always see posts slamming copper, but recommending a UV sterilizer to kill parasites.
BTW- UV is great for bacteria, algae, etc. but barely gives parasites a sunburn.

The main problem with excess copper is that it sticks to almost any surface. Any animals eating off the surface can get a high dose of copper.
