The water in some of those african lakes are pretty hard. With some salt in them, they aren't quite brackish tho.

This is my 12 gallon Eclipse Tank. And this is the the tank that started it all. It's been set up for about 4 years now. I had plans to upgrade to a larger freshwater tank but made the mistake of going into a saltwater fish store, JUST to look at tanks. Well, you pretty much no the rest.

They are Red Line Torpedo Barbs (or Denison Barbs). They are the most I've ever spent on freshwater fish, $24 each. I actually bought them on an impluse buy when I was looking at the saltwater fish/corals. Of course after getting them home and doing some more research on these fish they will need a larger tank, because they get to about 6".
The largest one at this point is 2". I've had them for about 6 months though and they are doing great so far, but they will soon outgrow that tank, so I might finally get around to upgrading my freshwater tank.

I'll try to remember to take some pics of my planted tank at work and post them tomorrow. I don't have anything recent.

That is a nice angel. I have one that is 6" tall, and I have had it for about three years. None of my fish will eat out of my hand, they are all scared of it. Now my clowns, the're different!

thanks for your time.
They are african cichlids. WangoTango, very nice tank. Would an african cichlid be ok in a 40g with danios, angels, groumis, a pleco, and a fiddler crab?
