I really don't think that my tank is the right setup for the yellow labid (type of cichlid). I bought two of them years ago on an impulse. They're doing well, but do chase each other a bit. They ate all my neon tetras too, so I'm trying to get rid of them.
I'm not as knowledgable with fresh as I used to be, but I'd leave the cichlids out.

You should only mix Africans, with other African Cichlids . You may be missing other fish if you don't follow this advise. Depending on the type of African Cichlids depends on the tank size. Hope this helps.

In the first pic? That is a basic black neon tetra - Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi

They should not be fully submerged all the time, and should be kept in a "species" type tank to show them to their best. In the wild, they live on mud flats and such intertidally.
I would NEVER mix African cichlids with tetras and such, totally inappropriate.
Like saltwater tanks, freshwater fish have different needs in terms of tank size, water parameters, fellow inhabitants, etc.
Even all African cichlids should not be kept together....and I cringe when I see African's with South American cichlids (which often require lower pH water). And even community fish, like tetras and mollies should not be mixed personally.
I see so many people cram different types of freshwater fish together and it really does not work out.l Research it as much as you would a saltwater fish, IMO.
This tank is no longer set up (but I've thought about going back to FW
)

I like that tank. If I ever st up another fresh water tank, it will probobly be a cichlid tank. As for the fiddler crab, I have one in my community tank (angels, danios, groumis, shark, pleco) and it is very cool. I have had it for about 6 months. If it needs to get out of the water, it will clime up the heater. It has even molted. Does anybody have killifish? I am thinking about getting a pair.

lol, cool, I know very little about fresh water fish. They were breeding them in an agg class my friend was in, and he has mentioned previously that they were trying to make some hybrid something or another so I figured that is what he was talking about.

Me?
My puffers go by a few different common names... "south american puffer", "asellus puffer", "amazon puffer"... scientific name is Colomesus asellus.
They are very cute and peaceful, but you really have to keep up with making sure they get plenty of plant snails to munch on. This species has the biggest problem with overgrown teeth out of all the freshwater puffers... (or so I've read.)
Even though I fed mine hard pellet foods and snails, their teeth would still overgrow and I would have to clip them short with fingernail clippers every few months or so.
I had those guys for nearly a year and a half and both died all of a sudden :(
I rarely see them in pet stores. When I do, they're normally around 12 dollars each.
