We've decided to "adopt" a soldier.

Ok...the list so far:
A thank you note. (in the box) This will be an ongoing thing, so a mushy letter will be mailed separately.
Choolate chip cookies.
Powdered drink mix packets for single 20oz bottles.
An original poem.
A music CD.
Gold Bond medicated powder.
A good book.
Non-perishable candy.
A couple tasteful magazines.
Stationary.
Lotion. (we have tons of hotel lotion)
Lip balm.
Visine.
I skipped the boxer shorts on purpose........it creeps me out just a little to buy undewear for another grown man.

What about a family photo from us? Is that weird?
That Is Awesome. Good Idea. I'm sure they need some support from a non-family member.

I don't think a family photo is weird. And you're a published poet? Awesome!

That is an awesome idea!
Some additional items that I didn't see in your list might be helpful for them:
- gum
- febreze air freshners
- crossword puzzles and sudoku puzzles

My friend, better yet just go to www.uso.org like me... they have various care packages to choose from all with the things most desired by soldiers.

I couldn't find the packages on their website.

Here you go bro!

Thanks.
I'm still going to build my own. It seems more personal that way.
Anybody that is able to do this, should. The USO link above makes it so easy.
I'm not rich, but I can squeeze the $$ from somewhere in my budget to do this.

I asked my husband and he said non aresol cleaning supplies for cleaning their lap tops. it gets dusty over there.
Small rug for next to the bed. Keep it neutral color like dark blue or green
No dirty magazines, videos, or pictures becuase they CAN get into big trouble.
Food lots and lots of food. Nothing that can melt like chocolate
I make cake in a jar and all the guys love it over there! I usually send about 10 jars.
If you want the recepie just PM me. Its pretty simple
