That will work, I sent over some Ministry.
Filth Pig...or that album with the funky symbols that has "Jesus Built My Hotrod" on it?
Lay Lady Lay and Lava were my favorites on the Filth Pig album. It was pretty rockin'.

That is allowed and was on the list from our church...I just wasn't sure if they would ship very well.
I would love to send chocolate chip cookies.
Anyone know if they will ship ok?
yes...put them in a small tin with wax paper and they will be OK. Also-lifesavers, talcum powder (for feets), any type of lip balm, and a couple of mags like Newsweek, maybe a Star or Enquirer, etc., so they can keep up on what going on! Oh and don't forget gummy bears and candy like that that won't melt or spoil ( movie theatre stuff!) Hope this helps 'stuff' your box!

I just asked my husband what he liked getting best when he was in Iraq and he said magazines and junk food like Little Debby snack cakes and cookies. Most things ship good, it took a week for him to get boxes when I sent them.
Something they can stick in their pocket and take out on a mission with them to have a snack. I started sending small cans of fruit and the microwaveable packages of rice with sausage. Anything that reminds them of home. I still have all the notes and cards he was sent by people when he was gone.
If you don't already have a soldier, you can find one at www.anysoldier.com soldiers can sign up on this site and list the things they would like or need or contact a local Military Family Assisstance Center(FAC). I work at a FAC and always have people calling wanting to know where to send things.

Keep in mind alcohol (other than a wet wipe)and smut (even Maxim mag according to my son) are a no-no.
One thing I didn't see mentioned is pre paid phone cards. Also had a few guys request the microwave deals like spaghetti and meat balls, mac and cheese and such.

I sent three of them, but Filth Pig was one.

I do this all the time with my Scouts. We send many of the things listed above, but the most requested item is new/used magazines. Not dirty mags, but rather Hunting, Sports, Cars, etc.
As far as the cards go, I let the younger Scouts write these, and you would be surprised how many of the soldiers actually take the time to write back and say "Thank you, the note made my day".

This would called "Goldbond", very useful product that comes in handy on the summer camping trips...

Ok...the list so far:
A thank you note. (in the box) This will be an ongoing thing, so a mushy letter will be mailed separately.
Choolate chip cookies.
Powdered drink mix packets for single 20oz bottles.
An original poem.
A music CD.
Gold Bond medicated powder.
A good book.
Non-perishable candy.
A couple tasteful magazines.
Stationary.
Lotion. (we have tons of hotel lotion)
Lip balm.
Visine.
I skipped the boxer shorts on purpose........it creeps me out just a little to buy undewear for another grown man.

What about a family photo from us? Is that weird?

Does everyone wear the same size? That was a question I had about the underpants as well.
but I'm still not sending underwear to another man

Would you really send a CD where the whole CD is bashing bush? Maybe send some metallica instead of ministry...
I don't know what the cultural views of caffeine are in the middle east. But when I was overseas (not in the military) I would have killed for some good coffee.

My mother sent care packages to my brother (he is 44) the whole time he was on his second tour in Iraq. He told her not to bother with the ordinary staples such as TP, tissues, deodorant, etc. That is all issued. He wanted things that he couldn't get there such as, funny it has been mentioned, cookies, microwave meals in a can, notes from all of us, those kinds of things. Your list looks great! God bless you for helping keep a soldiers spirits up

Good Music is good music. Doesn't matter politically what they are singing about......Most bands have a song that can be deemed political that I disagree with, but if the guitar is screeching or heavy, I am down.......kinda like actors, if I let politics dictate what I watched or listened to all the time...I would be watching blues clues and listening to the snow white sound track...............which is more than enough to make a person want to suck on the end of a shotgun.
