The best thing to do would be to start feeding it Seaweed Selects, and every once in a while put in some romaine lettuce for some variety.

Usually the green stuff that grows on the back or your tank after a while. At least thats what I've experienced.

tangs will nibble on just abotu anythign that is algae, except for coralline. Ours go just nuts for caulerpa. I have tried to get a strand growing in my main tank for years, but as soon as i put a cutting in there, it is devoured! They also love red algae, and will from time to time nibble on sargassum, which is a brown algae relative of kelp, but leave coraline and cyan failrly well alone!
good luck

My tang never seems to eat the algea off the glass. I have mostly green hair algea, but I rarley see him eating any. Could be the wrong kind. I feed him Nori though, and I just got some Gracilaria (red algea), since his color is really pale. I think they need a lot of algae

They are omnivores but require a diet high in Algae. I feed mine Dried nori, caulerpa and minced scallops soaked in vitamins.
