I like both Vortech and Tunze. They both have the pros and cons and lately a lot of Vortech's have had problems, whereas big Tunze's keep chugging along :)

I've used both. If noise isn't a concern and if the bugs are worked out the Vortech is nice. But if the tank is in an area where noise is an issue use the Tunzes.

Vortech = Ferrari. Top shelf, super premium. Sometimes a little finicky, but it's more about the passion of the hobby that drives you to get one.
Tunze = Porsche. Strong upper mid-range. Super reliable. Spend all day at the track, then drive home. Phenomenal customer support as well.
Koralia's = Corvette. The trim pieces are a little brittle, but they will always get the job done. More then enough power to muscle with the big boys.
Maxi Jet Modded = Mustang with a blower. They squeak, rattle, and roll. Decent in a straight line (tons of linear flow), but not the best when you want control.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Koralia is better than ones like maxijet and they are affordable...There are better ones, but not good on price. I am posting such an example:

I don't notice much noise at all with my Vortech and it's in the middle of my living room.

I agree with the noise. I've got a 40W in our 75g tank and it's right behind me in the livingroom and it's louder than our 3 Tunze 6101's together. I have the Vortech 20 in my nano and it's pretty noisy too.

I'm running a 6025 (~600gph) and a 6045 (~1200gph) on my 55, and they seem to be working well. I'd say go with at least the 6045 if not a higher model. The larger models are also controllable. I think the "older" generation stream pumps have been redesigned to be more like the nanostreams; ball shaped with a C-clamp.
