Hi,
It is hard to see but it looks like a bristleworm, a harmless usful scavenger
Quoted for truth.
I have these. It comes from over feeding or to many nutrients.
I have caught my Cleaner shrimp chomping on 1 of these, so I can't say for sure if he is trying to get rid of them, or if it died. But they do clean out the live rock pretty well.
they are ugly but serve a good purpose.

When should they start showing up? Do they show up in all tanks? Read alot about them but still not sure if and when to start freaking the kids out.
Hard to say when they show/showed up. I truly believe it is from the Rock I got. I did not want to pay the big$ for the rock so I went 2nd rate. But hey who knows. I just pluck them out once in a while wit a pear of plastic grabbers I have.

Any good live rock is going to come with all kinds of organisms, including bristleworms.
