So, i'm starting a salt water tank, and i'm not sure what kind of lights these even are, or how to tell, if someone could please identify them, and tell me what corals i could keep with them would be sweet thanks!

Can you see any markings on the bulb? It looks like a 40 watt strip light. If so the only coral options are the difficult, non-photosynthetic type like Sun Corals.

OK, it's a 30 watt. I don't think that's going to be able to keep anything that requires reef lighting.

I'm going to move this thread over to the lighting forum because it's not getting the attention it deserves here.
In my opinion you should consider buying a good light if you're going to attempt even low light corals. Just replacing that 30 watt with a 96 watt PC lamp would probably get you into the range of mushroom coral and some of the softies. That would of course require a different ballast and a lot of fiddling so most people just bite the bullet and buy a new lighting system.
Hopefully others will provide some better suggestions for you.

You're not going to be able to keep many corals under that lighting. That lighting is designed for a fish only system.
Look into PC's or if you're willing to spend a little bit more money, T5HO's. Current makes a great T5 set up as well as WavePoint.
