I really want to get some zoas for my tank, but I'm not sure what/how to feed them. Can anyone tell me what to feed them? I know you can feed zooplankton but my LFS only has phytoplankton. What should I do? :help:
I have another question too. If zoos are toxic, then would I have to wear gloves all the time, whenever I stick my hand in the tank? Or only when feeding them? What kind of gloves? (sorry for all the questions but you can't get specifics just from research/reading)
I have never had a problem handling them, but there have been people who have ended up in the hospital . if you have a cut, and or alergic to toxins like bee stings, then you could end up very sick from them.Just aware of the danger, and better safe then sorry.
I directly feed some of my Zoanthids Mysis Shrimp. The colony grows a lot faster if it's fed. Typically they can do fine just capturing stray food in the water column but they can eat and they can digest food.
they may not need to be given food like said...but when i feed my other corals mysis and my clowns i'll see some of my zoo polyps take ina piece here and there ***) even if you wear gloves it always a good idea to wash those hands afterwards just in case it got on your arm and you for some reason...lick it? lol....but anyways...just saying, its possible!
