What do you think about this light for a 55gal? I plan to turn my 29gal FOWLR into a 55gal and begin working in the wonderful world of corals. Will this light be good enouph to get started with corals?

Softies only (leathers/zoos/shrooms). I would save the money and get a MH kit so you can house everything.

You will be buying better lights sometime down the road. I would save the money for now and put it towards better lights.

don't know anything about the manufacturer(sp?) of the lights, so all i'll say is that that wattage will work fine for softies and some LPS corrals. i have them and my work has that wattage and the corrals are growing like weeds. but can't say about brand of lights
rick.

I know a local reefkeeper with the same type of lighting fixture...different manufacturer...but the same type set up. He has been able to establish and maintain a real sweet 58 gal oceanic reef for better than 2 years now. His selections include zooanthids/mushrooms/a few leathers.....frogspawn and hammers.....if care is taken to select corals that can thrive under the lighting you should be fine.

Pensky, I bought the same ones nearly. Mine do not have the lunars, but I also paid $79 =$19 shipping totaling $99.94. Look up auction #7705557730. HTH Barry

It's 260w PC's so any soft corals I am told as stated earlier in this thread. I really want zoo's mostly and maybe an anemone. I have been told they will be fine. Yes there are better lights out there, but for now that works for me.

I was answering your's. Look at that auction # for the seller and see what size he has for the length of your tank. Sorry I was not specific. Ha!
